American Pale Ale (APA) |  5.40% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Not to be confused with their English Style Pale.

"Our Pale Ale has a fresh, hoppy aroma that comes from two (top secret) Northwest hop varieties, while two-row Pale and Crystal malt give it a mild sweetness that finishes clean and crisp. Feeling out of whack? Put on some music, crack a Pale Ale, and readjust your balance.

ABV 5.4% IBU 37"

A-Great light copper color with a good head that stays and decent lacing, a little hazy for a APA but maybe it is dry hopped? I hope so!

S- Smells like NW hops, a bit earthy and a tad bit of citrus. nothing special but good.

T- definetely bitter but not overpouring by any means, well balanced with some crystal malt and sweetness. Hops stay with you but they are just enough to make you want more.

M- This beer is drinkable, average carbonation and a lighter body than would be expected of the style.

D- a good Beer, overall it is very easy to drink and would be a great session beer but I like my pales to be a tad bit more exciting. I could see how this would be a great go to easy drinker though.

Edit: some of the other posts said grassy and toasty in the smell and taste, after reading this and taking another sip I definetely agree with. good descriptions my fellow BAs!

Appearance - Very pale amber or golden color, with a massive, creamy off-white head. Good lace.

Smell - Maybe it's my nose, but I hardly smell anything. I can detect a faint blend of malt and maybe grassy hop aroma. I would prefer that this beer had more nose on it.

Tasta - Quite bitter, with a husky/grainy malt taste. The graininess is almost astringent. Grassy hops flavor sort of lingers on the palate for a while. What the beer may lack in aroma is made up for somewhat by the flavor.

Mouthfeel - Medium low to medium carbonation. Body seems to be somewhat lacking, but not so much that it is

Drinkability - Highly quaffable. This beer goes down easily, and is not mind clobbering in terms of alcohol content.

Comments - After drinking so many big beers, this beer is a reminder to me that really appreciating a realtively "simple" pale ale takes some work and thought.

Clear, pale amber with a thin cap of beige foam. Fine bubbles formed a collar and clung a bit to the glass. Nice combination of malt and hops in the aroma, citrusy and earthy, toasted, slightly floral. Nice flavour, moderate hop bitterness with an herbal/floral character, balanced maltiness, lingering spicy/citrus hops. Medium bodied with lowish carbonation, off-dry and pretty drinkable.
