With an ABV of 7.00%, Wassail certainly is a nice beer to be stuck inside the house with when there is a blizzard on your doorstep. There is a nice drinkability to Wassail that certainly makes the beer one that could be used as a good session beer for such an occasion.
Wassail pours a very deep amber to almost deep brown color and gives off a minimal amount of a tan head. There is minimal lacing present as the head dissipates rather quickly.
Some winter warmer style beers often times lose the hop presence when brewed but Wassail has a very nice hop presence noted. The smell also lends way to some winter spices with aromas of nutmeg and cinnamon dominating the nose. And while there is a clear presence of the hops noted in the nose there is also a rich malty chocolate characteristic to the beer, as well.
When tasted, Wassail lends way first to a sweet and malty taste that then brings in a hoppy nature that is bolstered by the seasonal spice notes present in the beer. There is a good balance in the taste of this beer with there being just the right amount of both hops and malt working in unison to not overpower one another. There is a noted smoothness to this particular winter warmer and a lack of a sweet and syrupy nature that I find so many winter warmers falling victim to. Wassail maintains an ideal toasted flavor to it that is quite appealing to the palate.
There is a medium level of carbonation to the beer which truly allows you to sip the beer and not have the carbonation do all the work for you. The mouthfeel of the Wassail is one that is smooth but also quite robust in the sense that there is not a loose or lacking nature to the beer. The beer is a rather strong offering and as such it should hold a bit more weight in the mouthfeel than a lighter beer and the Wassail does just that.

review from yesterday:
Enjoy By 2/21/14. I guess I'm about a month out....
Very dark, nut Brown, almost transparent. Small head, tan, creamy.
Aroma is slightly nutty, some spice, although it says there isn't any.
Taste is bread and caramel up front, sweet, then some hop bitterness to follow.
Kind of thin, especially for a 7.2% abv, but decent. leaves a bitter aftertaste with some kind of spice on the roof of the mouth.
