Full Sail's Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (2013). 9.6% ABV.
A: Medium brown head. Black, with very dark brown in the dimple. Some lacing.
S: Lots of deeply browned caramel and dark chocolate on the nose. Fairly sweet. Powdered cocoa. Some slight woody notes.
T/MF: Deep oaky caramels on the palate that set in as you swallow, and last way into the finish. Dark chocolate is pushed to a back note, with a more cocoa-y taste. Separate oak note in the background. Slightly soft mouth feel. Not quite creamy.
Not a major standout in BBA stouts, but solid. For $12, though, I'd say go for something bigger for a couple bucks more, or go for a better non-BBA stout (Chocolate Sombrero, for instance) for a couple bucks less. Still, worth a try. And, a good gateway, if your more hesitant about $15+ beers. Actually, since it doesn't have much in the way of bourbon or coffee, perhaps a good gateway into the style, in general!
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.

A little different label on this one with a plaid gold, white and black pattern and ABV of 9.5%. Purchased at Tipsy's in Littleton, CO over Christmas '16. Pretty good bourbon barrel stout. Smell is heavy on the bourbon up front. Feels a little light for the style, could be a little thicker. Taste up front is bourbon, with a little molasses and chocolate maltiness. Pretty good. Just hope I'm reviewing the right one. Cheers and Happy New Year.

On tap at Albertsons. Pours out inky black with a huge fluffy beige head, instant barrel/wood aroma, hints of chocolate and rum. Taste is incredibly smooth, no hint of the high ABV. Warmth comes on much later in the game. Incredible RIS, barrel aging is a huge plus.

Pours an opaque dark brown almost black like oil with khaki colored head. Bourbon, woody oak, some sweet vanilla and chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied. Finishes with bourbon and sweetness.
