Poured from a bottle into a regular pint glass.

Appearance: Golden straw color with half a finger of head. Almost no carbonation with little foam coating the glass.

Smell: Strawlike with hints of honey, citrus, and malt. Most likely the beers low point.

Taste: Taste is very smooth and very sweet. Mostly honey, citrus, and a little malt flavor. Taste some fruitiness. Refreshing. Not overwhelming, but somewhat weak.

Mouthfeel: The beer's strongest point. It is extremely drinkable and is a beer that fits the role of a summer beer. Recommend strongly with fish.

Overall: This beer is nothing outstanding but is a worthy one to try, especially in the summer on the hot day. Pairs extremely well with fried fish.

Working my way through the LTD series over a course of years without even realizing it. The LTD 1 was one of my first, favorite craft brews, so always stoked to try subsequent offerings from the same vein.

This one pours with a bubbly, off-white head. Color is a clear, pale yellow.

Aroma consists of lighter fruits that mix with notes of green grass and spent grain. Perfectly normal if you will.

Sweet and sugary up front with a fruity flow (green apple and melon) and a bit of hops and spice at the end. Somewhat astringent in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with a faint alcohol heat that lingers. A little thicker than I expected, but fulfilling overall.

If nothing else, the LTD's are a series that are always welcomed, if not for their brilliance, then for their timeless consistency.

At 7% ABV, can maybe someone say if there's a difference between a Pale Bock and an Imperial Pilsner? Best by date is 05/05/14. Does that mean this is too old?

Appearance: Looks like a Pils, not a Bock, though Pale is in the name. It's super deep golden yellow with a snow white head.

Aroma: Lots of Pils malt aroma, but also a hot alcohol and spiciness. After a little, the aroma fades, so I wouldn't call this a fragrant beer.

Flavor:
Front: First thing that's noticeable is a mellow bitterness, some tartness, some sweetness, and then a little alcohol hotness, which all is quite balanced.

Mid: More of the same, but also a decent amount of malt, but I'm not getting Pils malt, and lo and behold, the website says only Pale malt. Ok, it's not a Pils at all, then. It also uses only Willamette hops. So, an American hop and malt, with a lager yeast, I'm guessing, so not near a Pils. It's got a sweetness on the sides and not much bitterness.

Back: I'm getting hot alcohol slightly, sweet pale malt flavor, which is distinct from Pils malt in that Pale malt here is breadier, less toasty and not as crackerish, actually, more like sourdough bread. Not bad, but I really miss the Pils malt, which I think would've made this a great beer. I get some tartness/astringency, not a lot, but enough to be noticeable, but it's combined with a mellower bitterness.

Aftertaste: I got a bitter flavor that lingers a long time.

Mouthfeel: This could pass for a Bock in the mouthfeel category; it's thick enough, and no crispness.

Overall: I don't see why they don't call this a Imperial Pale Lager, rather than a Pale Bock. There's no Bock in it IMO; nonetheless, it's a really good beer. It's nearly WOW, but not exactly wow. I like that it's low in bitterness but still has enough bite and growl to keep the pale ale from being too much. It's a goo.d beer, but I'm disappointed only due to the name. I got a 4.3 of 5

A- deep golden straw with a thick off-white head. Surprisingly nice lacing.

S- honey, floral hops, toasted grain.

T- grain, alcohol, herbal/grassy hops. There is a light bitterness in the finish.

M- light bodied, moderate amounts of carbonation.

O- I wish that more lagers were like this one. Thoroughly enjoyable, very drinkable, excellent aroma, not too filling.

A - Quite possibly the clearest helles lager I ever seen almost light beer in color yellow with just a 1/4 inch of head that recedes to a mild lace ring.
S - Very clean lager smells, some grainy bitterness, and some bready malts.
T - Taste is mildly skunky with taste of grassy hops and bready malts. The finish is mildly dry.
M - Lingering bitterness is a bit heavy, light to medium in body.

Overall its a pretty good helles lager but I would prefer other takes on the style. Not bad though.
