"This annual favorite is a sublime hybrid of an American style IPA and a winter warmer. The result is a bold brew that celebrates the holidays with an intriguing blend of Centennial hops providing elegant citrus notes balanced by a backdrop of a rich caramel malt body. Dry hopped to amplify the aromas and flavor. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 6.5% IBU 68"

2017 version poured into a goblet. A clear copper-amber color with a frothy light tan head that lingered. The aroma was bright with orange rind, caramel, and toffee. The taste was as expected with a bitter charge of citrus followed by a malt-forward presence. Rich caramel but not overly sweet. The caramel was balanced with a more complex malt profile - biscuit, bread, etc. Very nice.

2017 Vintage

Look:
Dark gold to light amber in color with a white head that has good retention, good clarity, and a small bubble texture.

Aroma:
Piney hop aromas hit you right off the bat, but this is followed by notes of caramel malt and a touch of alcohol. Clean fermentation character besides the alcohol. No off-flavors.

Taste:
Medium-high levels of hop bitterness with moderate levels of piney, and low levels of grapefruit rind, hop flavor. Malt flavor is caramel with hints of toasted malt. Balance is leaning towards hoppy, but isn't totally out of balance. No lingering bitterness.

Feel:
Head was creamy but the body is medium with no creaminess. Some residual sweetness. Closer to dry than sweet though. Some alcohol warmth.

Overall:
Pretty nice beer. Will continue to be a yearly buy.

Bottle 12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass
Amber, slightly hazy, medium foam that slowly disappears
Smell: hoppy but not as hoppy as other northwest IPAs
Taste: bitter
Feel: good carbonation, good follow through, dry finish, bitter aftertaste
Overall: good beer, ok to repeat but not look for

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Bright orange amber hue, lots of lacing action. Zesty and juicy citrus nose with some malt in the back. Expected a bit more body but it has the body of the usual PNW IPA. Kiss of warmth, assertive hop bitterness, and lots of citrus peel and rind flavor make this beer festive. Very happy I was able to try this brew again, certainly worth getting some.
