"This annual favorite is a sublime hybrid of an American style IPA and a winter warmer. The result is a bold brew that celebrates the holidays with an intriguing blend of Centennial hops providing elegant citrus notes balanced by a backdrop of a rich caramel malt body. Dry hopped to amplify the aromas and flavor. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 6.5% IBU 68"

I stumbled upon this at the liquor store today for $2.99 a bottle and figured I'd give it a whirl.
This amber gem pours smoothly into my English Imperial pint glass. There is a reasonable head initially, but it quickly transitions to a lace. Good, solid carbonation. Pretty standard looking for an IPA, but with a Christmasy feel. The aroma starts out nice w/ some hoppy aromas first. For some reason I get a strong alcohol aroma. I had to look at the label several times to ensure that the beer was only 6.7% alcohol. I guess I'll write off the alcohol aroma as "fruitiness." There is some malty sweetness in the background. The flavor of this brew is pretty solid. Good hops, good malts, good balance. Not too overpowering on any level. Its not a boring beer at all, but not a trailblazer in any manner. The website boasts that this beer is "aggressive but sublime, assertive yet mellow, complex yet drinkable, and contains a lot of hops." I guess this beer fits that pretty well. The mouthfeel is a little different than what I've experienced w/ IPAs. It seems to be very soft and smooth. It starts out that way at least, but finishes crisp and dry. Something a little different I guess. I could be hallucinating though (these damn 80 + hour weeks are killing me).
A good, solid beer. Nothing to go out and tell someone to find by any means possible though. If it came in a sixer, I may pick up one again. Not sure if I'll buy more bombers of this beer though. A pint or 12 oz at a time would be enough. Worth a try at least.

2017 version poured into a goblet. A clear copper-amber color with a frothy light tan head that lingered. The aroma was bright with orange rind, caramel, and toffee. The taste was as expected with a bitter charge of citrus followed by a malt-forward presence. Rich caramel but not overly sweet. The caramel was balanced with a more complex malt profile - biscuit, bread, etc. Very nice.

2017 Vintage
Look:
Dark gold to light amber in color with a white head that has good retention, good clarity, and a small bubble texture.
Aroma:
Piney hop aromas hit you right off the bat, but this is followed by notes of caramel malt and a touch of alcohol. Clean fermentation character besides the alcohol. No off-flavors.
Taste:
Medium-high levels of hop bitterness with moderate levels of piney, and low levels of grapefruit rind, hop flavor. Malt flavor is caramel with hints of toasted malt. Balance is leaning towards hoppy, but isn't totally out of balance. No lingering bitterness.
Feel:
Head was creamy but the body is medium with no creaminess. Some residual sweetness. Closer to dry than sweet though. Some alcohol warmth.
Overall:
Pretty nice beer. Will continue to be a yearly buy.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Bright orange amber hue, lots of lacing action. Zesty and juicy citrus nose with some malt in the back. Expected a bit more body but it has the body of the usual PNW IPA. Kiss of warmth, assertive hop bitterness, and lots of citrus peel and rind flavor make this beer festive. Very happy I was able to try this brew again, certainly worth getting some.
