Good orange ipa type of color, a little bit hazy but nothing to be considered a detriment. Aroma was a little grass hoppiness, nothing huge, but not nonexistant, standard fare, evolved into grapefruit and then the pine that I was looking for in wreck the halls.

Some of the usual c hop bitterness, standard full sail fullers yeast type of yeast flavor. They didn't really go adventurous here, another one of full sails many ipa recipes. Pretty sweet malt flavors. Would like to see the beer go for more of the aromatic and softer hop touches instead of the longer hop boils leading to more and more viscious bitterness without other components to balance it out. But the price is always right with these, so I'd say check it out if you like hoppy stuff and you've never had it.

deep, dark, hazy orange, with a very nice white head which faded down leaving a nice lace up the glass. Very nice pour from the can. The smell was a nice blend of citrus hops. Grapefruit and pineapple being the biggest players here with hints of tangerine and pine flavors. Alcohol also made its presence felt, tingling the nose a bit. The taste was nice and sweet, not overally so but well rounded sweetness. Nice citrus flavors again, pineapple and grapefruit. The alcohol again was noticeable, but as it warmed it was masked well by the flavors. Very nice bitter, dry finish, lingered and made you want more of it. The balance between the malt and hop flavors is very nicely done here, and the compliment each other well, and mask the high ABV nicely.

A: Poured a rich golden-copper color, with a white head and fine lacing.

S: The nose was perfumey, with a clean lemon-lime citrus component and a sweet field flower hop boquet.

T: Taste was floral and some citrus, perhaps melon.

M: Awful dry, tannic bitterness,

D: Not so average

22 oz. bottle (thanks to a trade) into a Duvel tulip.
Poured a hazy golden-orange with a large head which dissapated into a lining of white foam. Lacing was nice and lasting. Nose was citrus - especially orange, as well as biscuity honey malt background. Taste was a very nice blend of hop bitterness and caramel sweetness with some piney, grassy and alcohol notes. Finish was crisp and clean and slightly (but pleasantly) bitter. Mouthfeel was medium with good carbonation. This was a very refreshing brew for a warm day and one I wish I had more access to.

A: Copper/amber color; light (chill?) haze. Poured a 2.5 finger off white head with good retention to a 1 finger cap. Laced generously in patches and rings. Lightly decanted..

S: Sweet bread and caramel. Floral hops; primarily citrus and pine. Also hay/grassy hops.

T: Sweet, bready crystal malt. Floral, slightly resiny hops. Sharp, spicey bitter to balance. Resiny flavor lingers through bitter.

M: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Resiny and dry.

D; Flavorful and fairly well balanced. Disguises the ABV very well.

Had this in Portland, OR out of a 22 oz bomber on 2010-01-24. Note, this is my 100th review on Beeradvocate.

A - Pours a clear gold with a 2-finger tan head

S - Pine, fruit and orange candy

T - Rye bread, orange candy, well balanced with the hop bitterness. Alcohol is well disguised but adds some flavor.

M - Medium to thick body and medium carbonation makes this a creamy brew.

D - A very good Imperial IPA. Worth having more than one glass.

On cask at the RiverRiew pub and pilsner room yesterday.

The beer pours an orange amber color with minimal head retention and lacing. On cask, at least appearance-wise, this beer comes across as very under carbnated looking. The nose is still pretty attractive, with citrus, black pepper and a bit of tobacco. On the palate, the mouthfeel is very thin and the beer tastes flat. This is a very dry style IPA, one with a huge wave of hoppy bitterness in the finish. This is one beer that, at least on cask, really needs some more sweet malt to balance the bitterness better. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, butg with a very short finish. Drinkability is not this beer's best attribute; it really could use a bit more carbonation and malty sweetness.

While not dreadful, I have to say this is one IPA that really does not benefit from cask conditioning. At least in my experience, the CO2 version is vastly superior to this. Oh well..

Clear bright copper, golden highlights. a finger of offwhite smooth creamy head. drippy mountainous laces that recede back into the glass.

Sweet caramel and toasty bread. herbal dank hops.

Piney, herbal, earthy, ganja. Toasted bread and caramel, a bit of woodiness and some booze. Spicy dry rye character. Well balanced malt and hop flavors. Big dank resinous bitter tongue slasher.

Thick, semi chewy, dry, med body, well carb'd.

Very good for abv, a bit of a slow drinker. chewy resinous bitter IIPA. very tasty and complex.

I've never had a Full Sail beer that I particularly like (their barleywine is ok at least) but I keep wanting to try. Especially with the Brewmasters Reserve stuff. This, was another let down. I think its their IPA in a different bottle. Appearance was fine, a deep ruby/cooper color going with decent head and retention. Smell was dry malt, barely any hops. Though I know this isn't the least bit specific it almost just smelled dirty. Taste was no better. Hops were noticeable, barely, but really all I mainly got was a dry, biscuit malt with lots of earth tones. Earth tones here is my way of saying dirt. I really want to think this was infected, but I don't think so...I think it just wasn't good. Mouthfeel was fine, not too light, not thick, carbonation was right on. Overall, just not for me.

A clear and deep orange on the pour. Nice inch of soapy foam settles slowly, holding a thin cap for a while then surrendering to a light ring.

Typical Full Sail nose. Thin hop presence and a unilateral malt nose. Sweet and boring yet kicked up a bit vs. their regular offerings. Opens up a bit with some warming but remains moderate.

Taste is chalky and dry. Not bad, not negative but simply lacking in its ability to garner your attention. Slightly spicy on the finish and feel helps keep things interesting to a degree. No real bitterness on the finish even given the dry nature of the beer.

Malt forward and typical to a degree of Northwest IPA's in my experience. Where are the hops?

At Horse Brass in Portland. Poured from cask into pint glass.

Shows medium head fading into decent lace. Lacks carbonation, but this is to be expected from a cask pour.

Spicy hops, funky, some hay and citrus on the nose. Rather good but nothing outstanding. Flavors dwell on the fresh, piney hops and citrus.

Big fresh hop tannins though well balanced and integrated. Good drinkability. Overall a rather good but not outstanding IPA

22oz. bomber into pint glass.

Has a clear, dark golden appearance, with an off-white head, and short retention. The aroma is a very pleasant, floral and grapefruit. And the flavor is of strong hops with floral and fruity notes, with almost no malts and no over-powering bitterness. The mouth feel is medium bodied, and slightly slick but very nice. It is extremely drinkable and hits the nail on the head as far as what I look for an a DIPA.
