Pour: Light golden-yellow, just a hair darker than a pilsner. One and a half fingers of white head that dissipated rather quickly and left a little bit of lacing.
Smell: Some citrus and grapefruit hops, and some pale malt. Rather faint.
Taste: Is this really an IPA? The front end has lots of syrupy sweet pale malt. The middle is a bit yeasty, and the back end finishes up with a moderate.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium with active carbonation. Nice and crisp.
Drinkability: Gets top marks in this category. Not overly drying and very refreshing.
Final Notes: Despite its low rating, I really did enjoy this beer. I just don't think it belongs in the IPA category. Definitely more of an APA in my mind, and it's one of the best examples of that style. Just not the big, bold flavor I'm looking for in an IPA.
