12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.
Massive tower of head with great retention. Clear golden color. Citric floral hop nose with a hint of blond tobacco, some fruitiness and graininess in the aroma as well. Smooth with a medium sized creamy body. Hop bitterness is there but more of a puckering pull rather than sharpness. Sweet floral to herbal to citric to mint is where the hop flavor brings the taste buds. Maltiness never jumps out with any sort of aggressive character, more of the foundation with simply complexities in tow. Bready to start then more of a nutty cracker grain flavor in the drying semi-bitter finish.
Perhaps a bit underrated IMO for an American IPA. Its not of the "in your face" kind of IPA but the hoppiness is there to let you know it is an IPA. As for the lighter cleaner side of malt, this is where the American IPA started so it is good to know some breweries have stuck with their old school roots.

On-tap @ the Firehouse Meridian ID. Served in a pint shaker.
A: Gold body, mostly clear, with a little white head and lacing.
S: Flowery, faintly citrus hop component with a crackery malt backbone. Maybe caramel? Faint pine or resin as well.
T: Orange/citrus pith and flowers again, with a light pale malt base with a decent dose of cracker. Faint caramel too, and light bitterness overall.
MF: Lightly bodied, lower bitterness.
O: Not too impressive, but not bad. Overall its less than the sum of its parts; to me, it isn't anything new, and it isn't anything that dozens of other brewers haven't surpassed.
