poured into tall harpoon ipla glass. served at 55-60 degrees. this beer is bright golden in color with great clarity, and a near white head that is frothy and thick. left decent hoppy laces on the glass, and a thin filmy cap stayed after head mostly dissipated. looks very nice, but color doesn't have that reddish gold you see in most american ipas. smells are herbal hoppy with a good bit of sweetness. also some earthy graininess. taste has a good citrus hop character right up front, with a good malty backbone start to end, malts are kind of honey like in sweetness. finish has a good hop kick that lingers, along with hints of grain. hops are citrusy and herbal, though not super aggressive. i like the that the hops don't completely overwhelm the malts and other flavors. the body is good for the style, right about medium, and smoothly carbonated to give it a slightly creamy feel. drinkability is average for the style. overall well balanced and a good example of an american ipa.
