12oz bottle (best before 11/14/09) poured into a Portsmouth goblet.
A - Pours an amber color with good clarity. With a firm pour, it failed to produce any real head...just a thin layer of bubbles leaving a small collar around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
S - Spicy and earthy hops, a little grassiness but it is subdued. A fair amount of caramel presents itself. Also some herbal and slight medicinal aromas come through too.
T - The taste has the same herbal and medicinal character in the aroma. There is a good crisp hop bitterness. Enough malt to balance things out - sweetness, some caramel, and bready mainly.
M - Medium body and carbonation. Nothing special but nothing wrong.
D - The herbal and medicinal qualities of this beer are somewhat distracting to me. Overall not a bad beer, but these flavors reduce my enjoyment. Think this is a one and done for me.
