It is a rare and welcomed offer during Wetherspoon's May Beerfestival. Served on cask and much weaker in strength (4.8%abv), it bears a quite different character from the bottled version.
Appearance: pours slightly hazy, dark amber/copper hue; coming with a very frothy and lasting off-white head...looking very delicious.
Smell: a bit disappointing, as it smells only faintly fruity and flowery hoppy...
Taste & Aftertaste: lively but light-bodied fruity taste at first, underlined by quite intensive and bone-dryish bitterness provided by the hops; a tinge of welcomed fruity bitter-sweetness of malts at the back of throat in the finish.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: a bit "clashing" touch at first, and the mouthfeel remains dryish throughout. A quite pleasant experience, although I would wish it not to be so thin in body.

Appearance: golden amber pour. very clear. little carbonation/lacing. a weak, fade-fast head.
Smell: a very mild nose. some sweet grains. a little bit of malt. not a nose that temps the drinker.
Taste: the best of their 3 i've tried so far. a little more sharp bite. maltiness more evident here. some semi-sweetness towards the finish. bready. a pinch of fennell.
Mouthfeel: again with Budels, light mouthfeel. light body. mostly smooth. slightly below average but better than their others.
Drinkability: this is pretty much a one off. i might try another but it's hardly the best Alt out there. i'd search for others.

Bottle: Poured a light dark beer with an average head with very little retention. Aroma is a bit weak with some malt being noticeable. Taste is different then some previous Alt I tried before and includes some roastiness and some bitterness at the ends. There is an overall watery feeling that leave a disappointing taste in my mouth which is deceiving since this one had promises as opposed to other Budels products.

Pours a clear amber orange colour, with a thin white, decent retention. Mild aroma of grain, malt, but not much else. Taste of malt, grain but with a good hop bitterness to balance. Fizzy and sharp on the palate, but one of the more drinkable beers that budels offers. One of the more hoppy beers from budels. Good drinkability.

This beer is a Dutch Alt, which is remarkable, because Alt is a German beer style.
Appearance is a bright amber brown beer with a small, big-bubbled head that is glass-sticking.
Smell is very malty and has some wort-like smells. Like it has not been fermented too well.
Taste is strong malt, with the wort-like taste and some huskiness. The beer has a strong bitter without being hoppy. There is no sweetness and the beer is not sweet. This comes close to the German counterparts I have tried before.

A nice product, nothing special but certainly quaffable with a smile.
This brew has the colouring of year old penny with limited lace and better than average carbonation.
Aroma is that of fresh biscuits.
The body is medium/full.
The taste has a moderate grainy start balanced well with a lemony citrus quality to end and linger.

Pours a nice amber bronze color with modest head retention. Lacing is good. The aroma is of doughy malt, floral hops and a fruity yeast. I taste a complex maltiness is up front, with roasted malts, caramel, and buttery notes. Theres also a citrus flavor and some plums and raisins in the finish. The herbal spicy hops play a secondary role to the huge malt flavors. The alcohol is quite conspicuous for a relatively modest ABV beer like this. The mouthfeel is prickly and thick. Overall this is a really great ale with a lot of depth.

Clear golden amber with a bright white head. Some lacing from the coarse bubbles and the head recedes quickly. Clean malt aroma with a hint of caramel. Faint fruit as well. Low bitterness. The flavour starts out with some malt, but this dies away towards the end. The finish has a slightly harsh bitterness that lingers for a while. The body is thin and the carbonation feels quite artificial. It's also just a little slick. About what I expected from another Budels.

Nice dark brown colour with big ass head. Some malt on the nose but the beer is the best of the Budels bunch ( It was in the Michael Jackson 500 beers book). The pronounced maltiness and the smoothness of the finish make this a real food friendly brew that I could drink all night. It is a shame that Budels couldn't keep this standard with all their beers.

Colour is a bit hard to describe. It's amber. And see through. But not clear. Dark amber is the closest I can describe it, but that is still not right. Head at first is huge, about three fingers. However, is seems to have settled to about one finger. Plenty of lace clings to the glass. Sadly, my nose is dry and scabby, so my olfactory senses are a bit weakened. What I do smell is malts and caramel, with a faint whiff of fruit and floral aroma. Tastes rather sweet. Plenty of malts mingling with a dry fruit and citrus taste, with a slighty bitter and floral aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light, crisp and dry. Would make a decent session beer, and thus far the best from Budels that I've had.

Clear toffee-copper colour with a decent white head that settles to a heavy film and provides good lace. A good looking beer.
Lots of bread and a hint of citrus in the nose alongside a whiff of alcohol.
Sweet malt up front that immediately gives way lingering hop bitterness.
One of the passable Budels out of the LCBO gift pack, but nothing exceptional.
