A- About a 1 1/2" light tan head on a cloudy orange copper body.
S- Big grapefruit hop aroma, hints of lemon and oranges, and light pine. Just a huge hop aroma with some caramel hidden behind it.
T- Big hop flavor with a pretty decent balance of malt body. Grapefruit and light pine come through like in the aroma and leave a nice size bitterness all over the tongue.
M- Medium/thin body with medium carbonation.
D- It is a good west coast IPA. Not a whole lot to make it stand out from the crowd but just a solid IPA.

Somewhat cloudy copper orange. The bartendress suggested the beer was unfiltered. Very nice grass and citrus nose. Flavor hits with hops. Bitterness is subdued and the malt is present though slightly drying at the end. Could drink a lot of this. Short review for a very good beer.

A pleasant surprise in an un-hyped, plain bottle. Pours orangy-gold with a frothy white head. Clean pine hop aroma, with some citrus, a la the west coast style. Great taste of grapefruit and oranges. Bit of bread in the back a is a slight resiny tang. Dry finish. Nice.

Bottle poured into glass
Appearance Beer is a mostly clear amber/orange color. Head is whtie. Middle head dissolves quickly leaving outer head staying around outside of glass.
Smell Hoppy Citrus, Sweet Malt, earthy grass smells.
Taste Sweet up front, does not finish vey bitter. Not an abundance of hops. Nice citrus flavor, I would say a very mild American IPA. I have had better and worse, it's a good solid beer.
Mouthful Low carbonation, not really hoppy a nice mild American IPA.
Drinkablity Nice aroma and flavors makes this a nice mild American IPA nothing over the top.

Acquired via Uncle Larry!
A beautiful clear and dark amber with a big khaki head. Lots of nice lacing down the glass. Incredibly pretty.
Not an aromatic IPA, which is one of my favorite aspects of a good IPA. Some mild hoppiness, and this beer is certainly balanced well by a certain malt presence, but it's just boring and average.
A little bit more hop bite and a citrus twang in the flavor, but overall a very balanced, unaggressive, relatively uninteresting, yet drinkable IPA.
Medium mouthfeel, ample carbonation.
A decent IPA, but nothing at all special. Drinkable and tasty, but nothing really in particular memorable or special.

Copper colored liquid, looks like it has a little more viscosity, might be in for a caramel malt bomb, but being that this is Rubicon, who has shown the ability to deliver good west coast hoppy beers, I dunno. Smell was a little subdued, pithy notes of citrus can be picked up, but they aren't as sharp as they should be.
Usual suspects in the taste, bitterness, caramel, mild sweetness. Hops just aren't out in the forefront like I hoped for. No bottle date, who knows how old this is, especially when purchased at a Bevmo. Really came off similar to most run of the mill to decent ipa's out there. Does Rubicon just make extra special batches for Bistro's hop events, or did I just get a less than desireable aged ipa bottle?

Appearance - Pours a hazy, bright orange amber with a white 3 finger head. Good retention. Leaves behind a thick, sticky lacing.
Smell - Aromas are a bit musty, but notes of peppery spice, pine and a touch of citrus cut through.
Taste - Follows the nose. A lot of piney hops, with notes of pepper and just a touch of grapefruit resin. A subtle, tea like quality sits below all this.
Mouthfeel - Medium body. Carbonation is on point.
Overall - A good, but not great IPA. Kinda dirty. Hops aren't quite as aggressive as some of the standard bearers on the market. Probably wouldn't buy again.

What should really be said here? Rubicon's IPA is a very straightforward amber-colored American style IPA. It has an aroma of citrusy Cascade hops combined with softly sweet biscuity and caramelish malts. The flavor is basically the same with some more pine-like hop character (it's a bit floral as well). It's solidly bittered but balanced. If anything, it could be a bit more refined (the bitterness does tend to stick at the back of the throat), but as it is, it's still far more in-check than many of the examples on the market today. A straightforward, balanced, and drinkable American IPA.

Right off the bat this beer reminds me of Ballast Point Big Eye IPA in almost every regard. The appearance is similar- a golden-amber-orange color. The smell is similar- floral yet distinctively sweet malt. The taste is similar, has a big malt backbone that I don't normally see in IPA's, except by East Coast brewers who don't dry their IPA's out as much as most West Coast brewers. It delivers a nice floral hop flavor with a moderate resiny bitterness... went well with my chili and spicy nachos but overall the malt is just a bit too much here for me to really love it.

A golden orange into a large wine glass I pour ye, with a half inch of off white head. Fair retention and lacing. Looks rather rich.
Orangey, buttery, sweet, bit skunky in fact on the nose. No hops in the house, how is this an IPA? This beer reminds me of Union Jack (in the bottle) but isn't as good. Is it possible the beer was just very old and the hops had broken down? Maybe, but I didn't get that impression. There were some cryptic markings but nothing I could interpret as for freshness.
Back to the smell. A rich sugary citrus oil odor emanates, not my favorite though apparently there are many fans. Similar to some Firestone offerings in that regard.
Taste follows with a buttery texture, rich and syrupy. Bitterness is cloaked on the finish as are hops on the nose by the sweetness.
Feel and Drink, yeah, OK.
This beer is like a dumb blonde to me. She's pretty and all but the reality comes hard and it comes fast. If you like the Cascade/Crystal combo with a rich buttery diacetyl flavor then I would consider this an average Pale Ale. Yet this is a strange one in the IPA world.

Pours a slightly hazy off copper color, on the lighter side, with a half" off white head and has some carb action.
I could smell the florals right when I opened the bottle. Sweet florals of pine and a carmel aroma.
There is a medium bitter grapefruit taste with a hint of English Tea and background of caramel malt.
The medium bodied mouthfeel has crisp carbonation with a very tolerable slight astringent finish.
This is brewed at a different place than their Brewpub. The IPA on tap at the Rubicon Brewpub is excellent and their flagship beer. I'm a Hophead so this is a session beer for me.

Trade extra thanks to Loki83.
Color is crystal clear with a bright golden hue.
Head is nice and frothy, clings and clumps all over the glass.
Aromas are of pine needles, hop resin, and cat pee. (kinda looks like cat pee)
Taste is bursting with hoppy goodness. Flavors of orange, lemon, pine, grass, and herbs.
Finish is lasting with a dry tangy hop-pucker. Great for the style, classic Cali IPA.

A - Came with a solid one finger creamy head in a perspiring pint glass. A golden color with good clarity. A thick, creamy off white head. Good lacing.
S - Very good fresh hop aroma. Citrus and a touch of pine to is. Slight sweet malt to round it out.
T - Very good hoppy flavor to this IPA. Lots of Grapefruit. Good sweet malt backbone. Finish is bitter and dry. Awesome IPA.
M - Good Medium Body, right amount of carbonation.
D - This is a very well rounded IPA. The best cure in a pitcher to a long week. The bottled version is a touch less impressive then on tap. So if your in the Sac area it is best to stop by the Brewery.

22oz bottle from Mauerhan....thanks Topher!
A- Poured into my Bell's pint glass. Nice golden orange color with some slight haze to it. Good one and a half finger pretty white head. Left good amounts of lacing on the side that look like they are clinging on for dear life.
S- Nice bitter earthy hop aroma to it. Pick up on a little grapefruit as well. Some sweet malts can be picked up on the undertones of this beer along with a slight hint of alcohol as well. Nothing to overpowering but it lets you know it's in there.
T- Some of the hops have begun to fade but holy shit the first taste I took I puckered my lips a little from the bitterness. Good stuff for sure! The big bitter hops take full charge right off the bat and it's like a battering ram knocking up against your palate. The malts come through a little more in the middle of the taste which I think is nice but I'm sure if this was alittle fresher that wouldn't be there. I personally am glad it is. The ending of this beer has some more hops to it but not quite as bitter as the first taste would suggest. Kind of a one trick pony but at the same time it's a little more complex than that. Good clean taste overall though.
M- This is a medium mouthfeel beer. The carbination is dead on making this beer neither dance or walk across the palate. More like it floats it across. I enjoy it a lot. The hops make their residence on your tounge shortly after you swallow the beer. Nice clean hop aftertaste.
D- This beer is pretty good with some age on it. I would like to try on tap to get the full feel for it but a nice add to the IPA world as a whole. Good job guys!

Had this beer at the Rubicon restaurant on Capitol Ave. With a spinach salad.
A- Light gold brown color, with practically no head (white foam).
S- nice sweet aroma of hops with earthy tones and a slight citrus.
T- nice strong robust hops, but it didn't seem to have much of a kick to it. the bitterness seemed to overpower the beer.
M- light to slightly medium pallet, with a vague hint of carbonation.
O- an ok IPA. The way it was served on tap it really wasn't at my preferred temp (I like my IPAs really cold), but all in all it was decent at best.
