22 ounce handbottle from Steve, the last from my shipment a year ago, glad I saved this one, thanks again for sending this treat down, made me even more excited to try Effingreat at Sour Fest in a few days, poured into my Oerbier tulip glass last night, served at room temperature as recommended

Brief description: "Aged for several months in French and American Oak Port Barrels from Costamagna and Boitano wineries of the Lodi wine region here in the San Joaquin valley. There are trace hints of Brett and Lacto from the Port wine barrel. The beer is intentionally not carbonated and is intended to be served at room temperature. First released at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival November 2006."

Color is a dark brown with some red in it, really small 1/8 inch bubbly tan head that disppeared quickly, no lacing or retention, aroma consists of raisins, wheat, vanilla, brettanomyces, tart cherries, leather, spice, milk chocolate, grapes, oak, and red wine, taste starts off with a mild sourness with some lingering berries, middle is full of grapes and tart fruit with a caramel malt base, finishes with a oaky vanilla taste with vinuous flavors lin the backdrop, already served at room temperature, so no changtes as it warms up, lots of port flavors overall with leathery accents, sour, malty, wine-like, and slightly sweet mouthfeel, low to medium bodied, not much carbonation if any, could drink more of this stuff and handled the bomber with ease, very well hidden alcohol, wild yeast did a good job of rounding the flavors together, very smooth for its style, one of the better beers I have had from Valley, certainly one of the most unqiue, would love to drink again, definitely recommended
