Compared to a pre-prohibition American style beer. A medium bodied ale with a well balanced hoppy finish.

Poured into a small shaker pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a half finger light off-white head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of mild caramel and light biscuit malt, grassy and piney hops. Flavor follows, with caramel malt with a little dry biscuit, citrus and piney hops with a pleasant piney bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. This was a little darker than I expected from a pale ale and had a more robust aroma than expected. The flavor was quite good, with a nice pine dominated hop bill with hints of citrus and grassy hops. Although it might have been darker and more robust than the style, I thought this looked, tasted and smelled quite good. A good introduction to the brewery. From a friend's "Beer of the Month" club shipment.

Pours a cloudy, honey color. Very flavorful, but I'd put it more in the category of an IPA than a pale ale.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a lagunitas mason glass.
L: Pours a dark golden color... cloudy with lots of sediment. Two fingers of off-white head... good retention and sticky lacing.
S: Malts and citrus... some floral hop notes.
T/F: Malty and semi-sweet up front. Biscuits and orange marmalade... citrus notes with a mild clean hop finish. Very thin/light in body... almost watery.
O: A pretty tame pale ale... looks great on the pour, but a little on the weak/watery side and you could probably drink a lot of these. Not unpleasant and reasonable flavor but nothing terribly exciting either.

A: Hazy amber/copper.
S: Malty, slightly citrusy, not very hoppy.
T: Kind of bland, not bad but not great either. Citrus but not as hoppy as I'd like in an IPA.
M: Average.
O: Just nothing noteworthy about it. Good but not great, probably would not buy it again because I prefer a more aggressive IPA.
