Darker in color than most in this style, good head formation and retention. Little to no nose character. Sweet and acidic on the pallet, not unpleasant but a bit harsh. Not great.

Bent River's Raspberry Wheat is definitely a fruity beer. It smells very sweet and carries a strong aroma of raspberries (duh). This is a very sweet beer. It isn't a beer where you can taste a hint of raspberry. The raspberry flavor is overwhelming, which isn't necessarily bad. It is very easy to drink. This is also a "girly" beer, my girlfriend was the one who wanted to try it. I'm not embarrassed to say that it was a pretty tasty beer though.

As per the website:
"This Medium Bodied Ale is Lightly Hopped with a Distinctly Fruity Finish Attributed to the Plump Raspberries"

Lots of captials, for some reason.

Okay, it pours out a hazy orange with distinct pinkish raspberry hues. No head, but still a pretty color.

Smells very light. Very, very light. Like water with a hint of raspberries. I was excited to see the word "hopped" appearing in the description of a fruit beer, but from the smell it looks as if that was a lie.

Or not. The flavor starts out with candied sweet malt, a generic bread with light hints of chocolate, moving into very light citrus hop and ending on a kick of candied razzleberries.

This is certainly a "chick beer," something to give to your girlfriend when you visit the bar. Still, it's pretty darn good.
