The Colerain Brewing Company opened for business earlier this month. My wife spotted it on our way home from Northgate Mall, so of course we had to stop in. As you walk in the front door, you are greeted with 10 or so barrels on their side, stacked neatly, lets you know this is a beer joint above all else. Nice atmosphere, and of course it's so new it's not crowded at all, maybe 20 people total inside. Hopefully that changes for the better soon. The folks are friendly, as expected. They are going to kill with kindness for awhile to get things started up and such. The server to guest ratio is so low that nobody has to wait for anything, expect that to get a little more normal with time and increased patronage. Food is most adequate - appetizers, chili, a handful of salads, the House Salad featuring Arugula Belgian Endive. Big burgers, wings, tenders, fries with chili, cheese, etc. The entree menu is dominated by steak and chicken selections with fish, BLT, Reuben, or Philly Cheese options thrown in for good measure.
Saving the best for last...Selection of beers - they have a wall of taps, there are 29 mentioned on the menu, there may be a few more on the wall, seasonals and such. 5 new selections of beer, contract brewed by Barrelhouse are as follows: Colerain Cream Ale, Springdale Pale Ale, Northgate Light, Mount Airy Amber Ale, and White Oak Light. Short descriptions of these will be added as reviews so you can get an idea of what they are, I'll update those as I try them.
The other 29 taps have several macro picks to keep the masses happy, and a nice selection of BA taps, such as Arrogant Bastard, Boddington's, Edmund Fitz Porter, Hoegaarden, New Castle, Old Speckled Hen, Rogue Dead Guy, Left Hand Saw Tooth, Tennent's, and Weihenstephaner weiss. Instantly qualifies as one of the most diverse tap offerings in the city. Come try 'em out!

Very nice. Looks like it used to be a Damon's or something similar. The atmosphere is casual and worn in. It was a great place to sample some different beers and hang out. I had a great time just sitting, drinking and talking with my sisters and brother-in-law.
The quality of the beer is great and the service was quick.
The selection of about 30 beers on tap, including 5 brewed locally on contract, is varied enough to please most any beer drinker. I had a local cream ale, a Young's Double Chocolate Stout and a hefe.
The food was OK, not memorable, but not horrible either.
A great find near my folks home, a lot better place to meet than an Applebees or TGI Fridays.

This is a fairly nice little pub right across from the Northgate mall. They have about 30 brews on tap, 5 of which are contract brewed by Barrel House. The Barrel House one cover good ground with a regular and light lager, a pale ale, cream ale, and amber ale. They seem to have a regular group of taps, not much rotating going on. They have some great tap offers though, like Edmond Fitz, Arrogant Bastard, Dead Guy, Hoegaarden, and Weihenstephan. Not really much of a bottled beer selection going on though. The beer prices are very nice. Not too expensive at all. The food is fairly good for pub grub. They have great nachos and wings for starters, and the Angus roast beef sandwich is a hit. Plenty of TVs and pool, even live music every now and then. Not a bad place to hit up in the area.

This is the only spot for a decent beer in far northwest Cincy, and it ain't all bad. The brewskies are good and lots of different ones, the service is not up to speed on beer, and the parking is plentiful. The food menu looks good, but we didn't wait for it. No samplers available so we just had to have pints. Not bad beer; also not the greatest.
The look is of a retrofitted big chain restaurant and in my look around I did not see the brewery equipment. The dark wood and dim lighting gives this spot a dark feel even with several large window areas. A large venue with lots of seating and a long wall bar with a draft beer wall. A good stop for a quick beer and on to Barrel House.
