I stopped in here with a few friends who frequent the place after work, as it's on their way home. Stepping in, it seemed like a trendy bar and grill. Not bad, but pretty normal for the metro Detroit area. Overall, the quality of beer was pretty average. Everything was drinkable, but only one beer really stood out as a really decent brew. The selection left a lot to be desired and no seasonals or specials were available. (And why do they serve BMC products? - I have never understood this practice of some brewpubs.) The service was prompt, but not very friendly. The food was tasty and the menu looked very interesting. However, my buddy told me that I had to have the Cap'N Crunch breaded chicken. I did, but I wish I had something else (a little too sweet for my taste).
Overall, stop in if inclined, but you won't miss much if you don't.

I have been going to CJ's for quite some time. Their beer and staff are usually top notch. My favorite beer is their American Wheat, but their Red is good as well. Food is good, some of the best french fries ive had. The Wheat beer had a full beer taste to it. If your not a smoker, dont sit in the bar area. As with most bars in metro detroit, they also have other choices in food. Great place for lunch or early dinner.
As for a mixed drink, they were a little heavy on the liquor...
Overall I really like the atmosphere and the beer. As I have been for a few years, I will continue to go back.

Maybe I am spoiled, due to living in a place with higher quality breweries, but I gave C.J.'s two chances and it failed both of them.
The first time I went there I was pretty excited because it is on my long drive home from work and I love craft beer. So after work one night I stopped to check. The bartender gave me a bit of attitude as I was trying to see if there as a seat at the bar. Eventually she suggested that I sit in front of the video game machine (mistake). I ordered their Wee Heavy and was satisfied with it but the gentleman sitting next to me was chain smoking cigarettes and after half of my beer I couldn't taste a thing. I ordered a second, their red, and unfortunately i could smell nothing but smoke and taste nothing at all so I paid my tab and left.
While this is not the best experience I have ever had at a bar it did not count them out.
A couple of weeks later I was driving home and didn't feel like sitting in the bar so I stopped by and grabbed the Dragonmead growler that I had in my car with me (brand spanking new/never been used) went in and ordered their wee heavy since I liked it the last time. The Bartender told me that they do not fill growlers other than CJ's growlers. This to me is an insult to the "brotherhood of brewers" that I hear so much about. I feel this action goes against what the Michigan Brewers Guild stands for and I for one will not be making a return trip.

I drove past this place hundreds of times in my life and it wasn't until this past week that i could go there to try some of their goods. (i recently turned 21).
i didn't sample the food because that was not why i went. i sat in the bar area with the brewery through windows on my right and tvs with news and sports on my left. the place was noticeably not smoky which is a plus for me.
i asked the waitress what kind of beer they sold to go and she brought me a list along with 3 samples of their house brews. i sampled the IPA, the Stout, and the Red Ale. i bought a growler of the IPA on the spot for 13.75. it was well worth it.
they have 5 brews that they make year-round and they have some seasonal brews as well, but if you are ever in the area i highly recommend C.J.'s for a quick beer lunch before hitting the gold course across the street that recently opened-up to the public.

Decent selection of food. Just about what you expect from a brew pub. The food was only OK. Select wisely. The rack of ribs was huge!
Whole lotta meat. The Jambalaya was fair at best. Yes, the CapNCrunch Chicken sounds like something interesting and different, but it is about what you expect. A overly sweet dish.
Tried the sampler. 7 beers on tap. The American lager was as undrinkable as Bud. The best of the lot was the IPA. Closer to a Pale Ale. Not real hoppy. The scotch ale and the stout were not bad.
Overall the beers were not memorable, but worth a stop in if in the area. Choose wisely.
