Picked this growler up earlier after a game of disc golf with some buddies, an oatmeal stout sounded good so i decided to give it a go, lets see how it drinks.
Poured from a growler into an imperial pint glass.
A- Pours a nice straight black with a fingers worth of mocha colored head that dissipated pretty fast with no lacing.
S- Pretty much just roasted malts with a little bit of chocolate.
T- Starts off with lots of roasted malts and just enough creamy oats to let you know this is an oatmeal stout, chocolate and coffee are present and balanced very nicely. This beer is on point for it's style.
M- Slightly thick and creamy with the right amount of carbonation.
D- This beer is super drinkable, no detection of alcohol whatsoever. I am already half way through my growler and i still want more so this growler wont last past tonight.
Overall this was a good oatmeal stout, if i could call any beer a session stout this would be it, the flavors are balanced so well that u just want to keep drinking, and with it being 5.1% it wont overwhelm you. It seems like lately all the stouts i have been drinking have been big beers, so its nice to switch it up and relax with a stout that i can drink all night. Black Forest always has a nice selection on tap and never seems to disappoint. Cheers to a good local brew pub and good oatmeal stout. I also am quite fond of the name even thought i don't remember Annie the orphan being too angry.
