500 ML heavy brown bottle with no freshness dating.

The beer is a slightly hazy straw/gold with a massive chiffon like head.

The beer smells very fresh and enticing. I get some spicy hops (I would bet Saz) and some fresh grass and apple/plum.

The taste starts with a small bit of bitterness and some peppery flavor. The malts add a bit of sweetness and some graininess. No off, old or odd flavors. While not quite as assertive as the aroma, this is still a decent beer.

Crisp carbonation joins with a fairly substantial backbone to make a nice easy drinker.

I could see having a bunch of these while eating some tasty perrogies and smoked sausage!

Contract brewed in Czech Republic for CPWI Warsaw Poland.

Pours dirty gold and is clear as day, the white head stays a thin layer.

A skunky aroma wafts up from the glass and bottle immediately upon uncapping. Some honey-ish sweet malt comes through in the nose and some faint, dirty hops.

Taste is similar, not bad per say, there is some balance and some redeeming malt value. The finish has an unwanted bitterness and a lingering, almost foul taste. Not sure how it travels, but it needs to be cleaned up.

500 ml bottle, no date.

Pours a decent orange/gold with a highly active large creamy white head that lasts and lasts before receding to some nice lacing.

The smell is typical euro pale fare, just some pale malts.

The taste is average for the style, it seems slightly heartier, but overall the same' ol same 'ol.

A: A frothy white head of foam tops a slightly foggy yellow golden beer. Medium levels of carbonation. Attractive lacing in the glass.

S: Deep aromas of rich malts and grain. Slightly leafy character adds to the touch of pestering dry hops. A mild sweet corn note is present toward the finish.

T: Mild notes of light malts, smooth corn and cereal grain. A trace of hops. Not bad. Very one dimentional, but enjoyable nonetheless.

M: Medium bodied with a refined smoothness that gives the drinker a thought that more than just flavored water is going down the gullet. Nice.

D: Slightly north of average. Not a whole lot of depth or diversity in the flavor dept., but it's still quite quaffable and worth trying. One of the better Polish beers i've had.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, beer is slightly hazy and has a golden-orange color. The head is white and frothy looking and leaves bits of lacing on the edge of the glass. Smell is almost completely malt, with only a slight hint of hops. Taste is nice but not overly complex, slightly sweet and a crisp finish. The mouthfeel is light with very little carbonation. This is a pretty drinkable beer, one of the best Euro Pale Lagers I've had to date.

Egg yolk yellow with a small splash of orange juice (hmm, this might make a good breakfast beer). The head is quality through and through. It's polished bone white and is thicker and stickier than the caps on the vast majority of Euro pale lagers that I've run across. A few splotches of lace are all that make it to the glass.

There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that's distinctive or memorable about the aroma. It's typical for the style, which 90% of EPL noses tend to be. It's weak and features a whiff of musty, musky hops. Ho-hum.

Jurand Premium is an odd beer, and I don't mean that in the complementary sense of that word. There's too much sweetness and not enough hoppy bitterness. Not only that, but there's an off-flavor that I can't place, nor do I want to try. Thankfully, and this is the only thing that allows me to keep drinking, it isn't flavorful enough to be overly offensive.

The mouthfeel is roughly medium for the style and is woefully undercarbonated. I can't decide if more bubbles would help or hurt. In the end it really doesn't matter since the flavor profile is beyond help.

This is third Browary Warminsko-Mazurskie Jurand beer (why couldn't they have come up with the Polish equivalent of Stone or AleSmith?). I liked Kozlak Bock Beer quite a bit and loathed Zingi Ginger Beer. Jurand Premium is somewhere between those two extremes. Another question: why is it that almost every beer that has the word 'premium' in the name is anything but?

"Premium" is a bit of a stretch in this case, for being just another forgettable Euro macro lager.

Pours a cider-like amber, with one finger of foam. Head dissipates quickly into thin air. Whiff of corn, cereal, and alcohol. Taste is bland and cereal-like. Either hops or alcohol provide a mild bite in the finish, it's too muddled to really pick out either. It is thin in the mouth like a pilsner, and somewhat easy to drink, but hampered by blandness.

Definitely not one to seek out, especially with the many superior Polish lagers out there.

11.2 oz, green bottle. Brewed and bottled in Poland by Browary Warminsko-Mazurskie, Jurand, Olsztyn, since 1879.

Pale yellow color, big, puffy white head, soon down-sized.

Clean aroma, a bit lemony, but devoid of any other characteristic.

Taste: easy and inoffensive, but a bit limp. No real discernible flavor jumps up. Citric and grainy, wet and drinkable, but offering nothing really else at all.

Not one for the connieusseur, but an easy pleaser for those who just want "a beer that tastes like a beer, dammit", Poles and everyone else.

The skunkiest beer I've ever come across. God damn, just god damn. Its too bad because the taste isnt too awful. In fact, it'd probably be refreshing if it didnt assault your nostrils. Taste is just nice pale lager, with maybe a hint of hops, it was hard to tell. Didn't very far through this .5L bottle. At least it was cheap.

This .33L green bottle (not quite 12 oz… just 11.2) bottle of Jurand Premium poured a clear deep gold in color. It had a thin white head, which dissipated quickly.

Jurand Premium has an interesting aroma, which contains a balance of earthy, toasted malt, alcohol and hopsack aromas.

Jurand Premium has a flavor which is equally as interesting as its aroma. Although it does not have the typical European lager flavor you are expecting… Jurand has a blend of earthy, metallic and horsey flavors that are most dominant. It has a moderate degree of hop bitterness and there is the slightest degree of kettle hop flavor. There is also a bit of malt flavor hiding in the background.

Jurand Premium has a light body, with a moderate carbon dioxide bite and a dry finish.

“New Beer from Poland”, the liquor store sign read “9.99/12 pack”… how bad could it be, I thought... expecting something in the vain of Zywiec or Okocim O.K.. Where as it is not bad per se, it is not very good, either. Judging by other beeradvocate reviews… this beer can be at least average if not quite good. Perhaps I will have to try is again from another source sometime.

Clear medium yellow color with an initially thick but soupy pale white head. Laces in small punctuation marks. Aroma of hay with a slight bit of walnut shell tones. Body is light with higher than average carbonation. Standard Lager flavors come out in this one, lightly candyish and sweet with grassy overtones. Indistinct hops to type, but they balance as they should in an easy-going and non-aggressive way, combining with carbonation to give a slight crispness. Like many of this brewery's beers, a fade in flavor marks the close. Ordinary offering, not offensive.

Clear golden color, lots of visible carbonation. Head is very small, but forms a solid layer of foam. Grassy malts and cereal grain, very light and crisp. Taste is very strong with grassy malt. Alcohol is perceptible, taste grainy and pretty similar to many other Euro Lagers. Well carbonated, but this is still a fairly average beer.
