Poured from 330mL bottle into a tulip. Bottle says this is a tripel rather than a BSPA.

Appearance: silvery-gold hue with lots of haze and apparent effervescence. Head poured three fingers of frothy white foam. Nice.

Smell: nice orchardy aroma of pears and ripe apples. There's also a light tartness and light dustiness in there. Behind this there is a nice, somewhat sweet malt aroma; this is a well-composed bouquet. I love it.

Taste: very sweet flavor with a tasty malty character. Fruitiness is still present, along with a very light tartness, although not as strong as in the aroma. Pretty tasty, although not quite as enticing as the smell.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a great big carbonation. Could use a hair more body, maybe, but creaminess is spectacular.

Overall: this is a fan-damn-tastic beer. It lacks a little complexity, but I'm enjoying it greatly.

Sunday 16 Dec 2012: Antwerp Gollem. 33cl glass from the tap.

Golden yellow body, almost clear, on top a white, full head. Mild citrus feel to the aroma, some yeast and semi-sweet maltiness added to the smells.

The taste was biscuit malty with a hint of citrus fruit filling. Not as exciting as I hoped for: not bland, but not far off. Hid the alcohol well enough, so there must have been something flavoursome in there!

Not a great start to my evenings drinking, but it did make the next beer taste great (a John Martin Diabolici).

Semicloudy, big column of carbonation up the center, but not much of a head. Light orangy gold. Thick sandorn smell. Not the strongest flavor, but primarily sour, with a semi bland sandorn underneath. Somewhat resembles a witbier. No sweetness. Sour tang, and somewhat drying. Decent, but relatively bland and uninteresting.

A clouded straw colored brew, a white head with little lacing and rather small curtains.

A fruity aroma, apricots, citric tones, lime and grape-fruit.

Sweet white bread, fruit sorbet, apricots, mango etc.

Little carbonation, slightly sticky, a good body and a short dry finish.

A very nice and drinkable beer, could have been a bit dryer.

LOOK: Golden color, bright, cloudy, with some small particulate matter floating around. Has a white head, good staying power, and leaving plenty of lace.

SMELL: Aroma of sweet honey like malt, fruit, Belgian yeast, coriander and clove like spice.

TASTE/FEEL: Starts moderately sweet, with a balancing dryness. Soft fruit notes of apricot and peach, as well as a solid dose of clean Belgian yeast and a small spice note. Alcohol is well disguised, just leaving a warming feeling.

OVERALL: A nice authentic Belgian Tripel, with enough character to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack. Fruity, lightly spiced, light bodied brew.

Beer is golden in color. Nice white head on top of it. A lots of bubbles coming out of this one. Fruity in the aroma. Some spices too and floral. In the mouth, the beer is very fruity with a dry finish. The bitterness is light. Very dry in the finish.

Medium body. The head is very sticky. A good one.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Love the pinching crab on the label, already a fan.

A good white head, with some retention, sits on a dull orange and brown amber body, with good rising white pinhead carbonation. Nor much lacing at all. Pretty solid looking brew.

Wonderful nose on this beer. A real impressive dry ripping barley with a big dense malt and hidden sweetness. Nutty with a hint of orange fruit it seems. Great smelling beer!

Light bodied with some density but a very neutral palate. Light malts roll around briefly on first sip, then the swallow brings a lot of wetness with some drying action. Fruit character doesn't come through, but luckily not much for booze either. Juicy texture comes through a bit as it warms up, and some orange character does appear.

Overall in short I was expecting more from the nose, and as good as the beer is, it's a little bit of a letdown. Still things could be worse.
