01/23/13 On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. On the unctuous side. May even need a side of water as a chaser, not to dilute. Diluting this powerhouse would be a travesty. Beer as food is what comes to mind. The sweet of all Belgians is apparent with a well crafted holding of the line. The only thing holding me back is the 8.5% ABV. Like a blonde bombshell in a book store, all may not be as it seems...but WTF?

Not sure if this bottle is a little older or what, but the hops are barely discernible. Just a light floral flavor in the background.

Besides that, however, this is a nice beer. A little sweet, some nice Belgian yeast, very pleasant malty-bready-doughy flavor, I really like it.

awesome brew right here, a hoppy belgian, which seem to be coming into vogue more and more, but with all that are out there, the chuouffe, the lupulus, and the like, this one is the best of the lot that I've had so far. its blonde and hazy, very well carbonated, and heady all day. the nose is belgian first, somewhat like a tripel in terms of heft and aromatic, but its lacking just a bit of that sweetness, and instead replaces it with floral and punchy hops. delightful flavor trip, hops first and last, delicate but prominent. hints of citrus and blooming fruit trees, minimal bitterness. the grain seems to be predominantly wheat, maybe some pale barley in there too, and just a very soft texture to it. interesting spice complex from the belgian yeast comes out in the finish. its complex yet familiar too, i was surprised to like this so much, and at 7 or so bucks a bottle, its an awfully fair priced brew. definitely worth trying, one of the better hoppy belgians on the market.
