On tap at the brewpub in Reedsburg. Pours an apricot orange color with a light haze and minimal head. Reduced to a soapy rim after a minute or two, leaving no lacings.

Aroma is of dill and salt up front with an herbal quality and a mildly salty quality that penetrates the APA characteristics. A touch of distant hop bitterness is present, but only behind the dill. The APA tag is lost among the spices and salt, though a bit still gets through. Quite odd in the nose.

The dill is less pronounced in the taste than the aroma would suggest, but still present in place of what would be the malt presence of the beer. Finishes on a lightly floral hop note with residual bittering hops and a touch of salt in the aftertaste. What a unique beer. The salty character makes the palate hungry, and the dill does little to enhance the brew, it just sits in front covering up the APA's characteristics.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with an odd salty texture from the flavoring, and a finish of residual dill pickle characteristics.

Drinkability is strange. As odd as it sounds, this beer just works. The dill imparts a subtle herbal quality to the overall profile that is lightly enhanced by the salty character and the light hop presence. For some reason, a beer called Dill Pickle APA is not bad. Not really good, but not bad.
