The people here were awesome, including the metalhead I dealt with who gave me ideas of other things to try like sours from Quebec and Ontario. They were doing tastings here and in general people really knew what they were talking about when it came to beer. Seen offerings here I didn't at other places. Also they knew about American beer as I pointed out a few to try when they got the chance like Bells Two Hearted, Ska Modus Hoperandi, and ... well it was quite a conversation. I will absolutely go back here again if in Calgary first before others.

One of the best places in the city to pick up a great variety of beer as well as wine and other bevies. Dave the beer guy is a great asset and is always happy to help you out or give a suggestion or two. They have everything from your standard fair to more unique varieties, and everything from cans to growlers can be found. Really only down side is parking on Fridays through the weekend.
They have a number of unique events held either upstairs in the tasting area or downstairs in the event centre, including last years surprise Dieu de Ciel tasting evening. Also next door is Springbank Cheese company, where you can pair your new brews with some fantastic cheeses from around the world.

A top notch outlet in Calgary for all things alcohol. They have a great beer mix from the most expensive imports to cases of chuggables. The service all around is great, in particular Dave the beer manager is a very likable and knowledgeable guy that loves to shoot the shit about all things beer, and will give you an educated and detailed opinion on anything and everything they offer. Beer selection is only surpassed in Calgary by Zyn, but their prices are definitely lower. Their cold bomber selection is a treat, with a focus on Canadian brews. This place is out of my way but I will sacrifice dealing with bad Calgary traffic to make my way there regularly. And on top of that, they have a regularly full calendar of tasting events.

Big store in SE Calgary, hit it a couple times now because it's close to my parents place there. Great import selection of mostly Belgian stuff, though some Mikkeler and misc. as well. You can get all the Alberta releases as well as beer from across Canada: Cannery's line, DDC, Charlevoix, Half Pints, Trois Mousquetaires, etc... including their mix packs in some cases. Some American imports like Lagunitas.
Seems to often be tastings on the weekends, relatively knowledgeable staff. Great selection of scotchs, ports, wines as well - talked to the scotch guy, knows his stuff.
Great place with a really wide selection, most of it in coolers except the bigger Euro imports. Love going here, puts my local LCBO to shame.

Easily one of the best selections in Calgary. Their South Centre location is by far the best, but all the other locations will order anything that is stocked at the South Centre location. I can easily spend an hour browsing their beer selection. There's no deals to be had, but the prices are definitely not unreasonable. Great selection of both domestic and global brews, with a nice balance of American and European beers. Anytime there's a special/seasonal release, this is the first place I check. The staff is highly knowledgable, and they host a lot of events be it wine/beer/spirits tastings and dinners. Check out their monthly calendar for events. Highly recommended!

Went in on BA recommendation.
First impression: Huge place, where is the beer?
After trucking to the back I found the promised selection of beer. I was not impressed at first, but the upon closer inspection there is a lot of beer to choose from here. Lots more than it initially seems. The selection was quite good, unfortunately they did not have particularly what i was looking for (but i dont necessarily blame the store, 99% of places in Alberta do not either).
Picked up some tasty hefe's for the night, my friend got mead for a change. Good experience. I stopped by the next night for a 'london porter', which of course they had.
Last Impression: All in all I will be going here often when in Calgary. Good accessibility and good selection. Decent prices. No comment on service. It was not bad nor good.

There's definitely a beer geek running the beer section here, and I'm glad they've got him.
They've already got probably the best selection of wine in the city, and I rarely visit them without picking up a bottle of vino and around $50 of tasty imported microbrews. Without them and Kensington Wine Mart, I'd never have found half of what I've sampled. Dogfish head IPA (60, 90, and 120 minute) springs to mind. Then there's the Christmas special packs of Belgians, with glassware.
Best all-round beer choices, best Belgian beer choices. Bar none.

Well, it's pretty clear it is the best beer store in Calgary. You can find really rear stuff there, they carry lot's of american and belgium brews. They always have something new, staff is really helpful there, they always tell you what's new and what's worth a try. I believe this is only place in Calgary where you can get organic beer. Selection is very good, when I'm there I never can pick one kind, I always spend lots of money, because you wanna try everything. I'm glad we have this store in Calgary. I try to stop by once in every couple weeks.

Calgary's best beer store without doubt, question or argument. Dave, the beer manager, knows his stuff, tries to stock every beer available and tries every beer (and more) that his store stocks. A great resource for beer knowledge and assistance. They will break six packs and help customize gift baskets. If you want to know what is available or what will be available this is the place. The best Canadian beer store that I have been to. Amazingly their reputation for wine and scotch is greater than their beer reputation. This is also the location for tastings and events.

I made my second pilgrimage to the Willow this past weekend, and it was truly memorable.
There is a ton of great beer to be found here, and all of it easy to find. HOWEVER, it really bugs me that the best beer (all of the high end Belgian, German and US craft) is sitting on shelving under lights, while the rest of the beer is kept in coolers. You can tell that some of this beer isn't exactly flying off the shelf (check the bottled date, best by date, or even the layer of dust on some bottles), so it should be properly stored. Sherbrooke definitely has the upper hand on the Willow in this department with their dimly lit, walk-in cooler.
I had barley started my shopping when Dave (beer manager) spotted me loading up a cart with premium beers. He chatted non-stop in a friendly and casual manner while I continued on. He would occassionally drift off, but always returned to check on my progress. He even brought out fresh stock of the He'Brew Lenny RIPA and Tree Rebel lager for me. When I finally got to the check out, he again showed up to assist the cashier with boxing up my purchases, ensuring my items were all rang through properly, and giving me every beer-related promo item he could find. OUTSTANDING.
Selection was great, they even had a few items that I couldn't find at the Sherbrooke in February (Orval and Celebrator doppelbock). They only out of stock item that I wanted was Delirium Tremens.
I found the prices to be very reasonable, less than $12 for 6-packs of Canadian craft, and the bombers of Unibroue were all around $5.
Aside from storage of some of the beers, this place is amazing. While it is clear that the store is primarily focussed on wine, they still do an amazing job on the beer.
