2 liter swing top growler (I bought 3)

Decants an unfliltered dark brown with a decent sand colored persistent cap that lasts and laces.

Thick malty molasses cookie dough aromas over light floral hopping. Ambrosia for the bock fancier!

Rich full bodied character, Thick dark toffee bundt cake doughy tastes up front are stopped from being cloying by a herbal rush of tettnanger and hersbruker hops, mid palate some rich minimal complexity then a thick lingering satisfying finish.

Great winter bock and my second favorite offering from this great artisan lager brewer.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a damn near black color with no head at all. Smell is of bready malts, molasses. Taste is full of dark breads, light sweetness, some hints of licorice. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

From the cool short stubby flip top bottle in a snifter. This nice little
bock pours a rugged murky brown with a quickly dissipating head of
foam that settles to a thin ring and no lacing. Nose of brown sugars, dark
bread, and raisins. Flavors follow the nose with brown sugars and raisin bread
touched with a touch of fig and a slight herbal hop. Slick and coating mouth feel
with little carbonation. Overall I would LOVE to try this on tap and FRESH from the
brewery---I can guarantee it is excellent and more deserving of a better rating.

Cheers

Dark brown colour with a finger of beige foam that fades quite fast, leaving lacing on the surface. Smell of caramel, hops and roasted malt. The taste is quite diverse, with caramel, malt, coffee, hops, nuts and herbs (probably from the hops and esters). Alcohol is well hidden. Nice doppelbock, but the flavour gets a bit boring after a while. A bock that tends to lean more to the bitter than to the sweet side, with a umami twist due to the herby flavours.

A: Poured from a bottle to a mug. Had a dark brown color and a thick consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing.

S: A nice aroma of malt, chocolate, and a sweet sugary element.

T: Tasted pretty much like it smelled: Lots of malt, a syrupy quality, and some chocolate. While the flavor is a bit thinner than I would like, it's still not bad. A different take on the typical bock flavor.

M: A low amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This isn't necessarily an outstanding beer, but it has its good points. Bumpy in spots, but drinkable.

11.2 oz bottle was poured into a mug.

Appearance: This beer poured a minimal head that reduced to nothing. It is a murky brown color with no vision of anything.

Smell: Sweet caramel, toffee, raisins, figs, lager yeast, and some booze.

Taste: Same as above with some bready malts, a little roastiness, and grassy hops.

Mouthfeel: Little carbonation, smooth, warmth, fill bodied, and like a meal.

Overall: Bocks are starting to be an awesome style. This one is borderline doppelbock, but still a good bock. I like it a lot

Served in a Christoffel cervoise.

The normal stuff down, let's take on the other bottle from the gift set, eh? It pours a clear topaz-garnet topped by a half-finger at best of off-cream foam. The nose comprises dry caramel, mild maple syrup, light flowers, and a touch of straight barley for effect. The taste brings in more of the same, though a distinct vein of mild stonefruits makes it way through the din every now and again. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly fluid feel. Overall, a nice little bock, nothing special, but dig-able.

Hazy brown color with a thin head with low retention.
Aroma of plums, caramels, molasses and toasted malts with hints of pine and condimented yeast.
Similarly, delicious flavor of prunes, figs, pine and caramel. Hints of pepper.
Medium to full body with low carbonation, a bit sticky. 7.8% ABV is completely hidden.
Very good bock. Complex and flavorful, I almos felt like eating prunes and figs, but still with some refreshing hops not to make it a sugar bomb. Ps. It ages well.
