pours a poshy orange brown liquid with extensive but not very long lasting mousse

the nose is rather hoppy than malty, with notes of resin and red wood

the taste has some notes of orange and white bread and a hint of toffee

according to the label this brew has been maturing in oak wood (no mention of barrels, so I suppose it's rather pellets which are used), but that unfortunately doesn't help at all to give it some harmonious structure

300ml on-tap serving in Gifthüttli, Basel, Switzerland (5.40 CHF):
A good take of the Vienna lager stlye with some nice sweetness & caramel malts. There was a subtle bitterness showing itself towards the end & while there wasn't much that truly stood out about the beer, it was quite an easy & enjoyable on to drink with dinner; it didn't hurt that it was miles better than the same brewery's 'Original' pale lager that I'd drank previously either.
