Notes/Commercial Description:
What can we say about the Blonde on Blonde? Is it the upright way she holds that tray that makes us love her? Or is it the humongous hops sitting on top that gets our bubbles bursting? This PALE ALE was our 2nd beer made available for statewide distribution, and has been a growing hit among Connecticut consumers since 2010. In November of 2012, Blonde on Blonde won 1st place in the Pale Ale catrgory at the Great International Beer Festival in Providence, R.I. It is brewed with German hops for bitterness, Zythos and Cascade hops for aroma. Come try out this award-winning beer fresh on tap, or find it where you can locate it in the region by clicking here. Served short or tall. Oh Mama!

From the external appearance, I could have assume that this beer would be as simple as many of the mass produced brews.
It pured just slightly more amber than your 'light' beers.

But thats where the similarity ended!. The nose was full of hops and citrus. There was a definite bouquet fresh pink grapefruits.

The first taste was like the bouquet. A good dose of hops, just the right bitterness along with nice citrus lemon, orange grapefruit.

This one tasted very crisp and alive. The mouthful was big along with a good lingering after taste

Surprisingly nice

Impressive dome head from a gentle pour into the glass. Slow to recede. Leaves moderately chunky lace on the glass. The liquid is orange-dirty gold color. Hazy.

Fresh nutty fully malted barley aroma. Light floral hop provides balance.

Comes across like a moderately hopped home brew. Lots of yeast bite. Starts with a pale malt tongue but succumbs to a black pepper hop bite that lingers through the finish and aftertaste. Modest body with an elevated carbonation level.

12 oz. to pint glass. Random X-mas gift.

Bright pale orange with some haze. Giant white head falls to about a finger eventually, gettin' all crater-y and leaving nice lace.

Smell is definitely on the fainter side, but not bad. Grapefruit juice, earthy/herbal hops, bread, pale malts.

Taste is an improvement, a little more hop bitterness here as well. Citrus/grapefruit juice forward with some herbal and grass, bready and grainy malts with light sweetness and a toasty finish.

Full mouthfeel with low-ish carbonation and medium bitterness. Easy-drinking and well-balanced.

Good mix of hoppy pale+blonde ale, definitely wouldn't mind having a few of these in a night.

A: Hazy golden brown, not unlike a witbier. one-inch white head that lasts for about 2 minutes before giving way to light, bubbly lacing. Speaking of bubbles, any carbonation is invisible, except for a few bubbles about half and inch from the bottom of the head that shoot right up into the head. Once they've gone, there's no visible carb to speak of.

S: Citrusy, floral hops.

T: Lots of hop bitterness with slight citrus notes coming through on the finish.

M: Thick and heavy, with more carbonation than the appearance lets on. It's a slightly below average amount, but it's there although the appearance suggests otherwise.

O: It's not bad, but in my opinion, it would be so much better if the citrus hops were more prominent in the taste. That may be just me, though. The bottle says that the citrus hops are there for aroma and the bitter hops are there for taste, so I can't fault the brewer or the beer itself for not being exactly to my liking.

On tap at the source.
Comes to the table a crystal clear pale straw color with a solid white head that leaves lots of lace. The aroma is light sugar with a bready hint and spicy floral hops to balance. The flavor is light sugar with a solid spicy hop bite and low hop bitterness. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a slick bubbly mouthfeel. Decent enough brew but not my favorite of the night.
