First had: on tap at City Steam Brewery, Hartford, CT

Clear, golden-yellow pour with a medium white head that didn't stick around too long. Crisp aroma, clean and citrusy. Taste of citrus and pine hops, light biscuity malts, non-threatening, a tad bit bland. Light body, mellow carbonation, slightly bitter finish. Smooth for an IPA, pretty drinkable, but nothing too special.

Poured from a Growler that I picked up 3 days earlier. Appearance is a clear yellowish, orange. Has a small head with some good lacing. Great aroma. Lots of citrus along with pine and hops. Taste has a nice balance of citrus and pine with some bitterness. Actually pretty drinkable for an IPA. The ABV is hidden well. I must say I was impressed to have such a tasty beer from a CT Brew Pub not named Willibrew. I will be picking up another growler of this the next time I am in HTFD.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Columbus, Northern Brewer and Amarillo hops. Decent hop aroma. Lighter than average IPA mouthfeel. Light amber coloured body with decent lacing. Decent citrus taste and good drinkability, though unexceptional.A must try.

On tap at the brewery, in a straight sided pint glass. Beer is clear-- imagine they give it a coarse filtering as it was not hazy or turbid the way unfiltered brewpub IPA's tend to be. However there was enough of a haze to ensure that they didn't filter the soul out of the beer. Good head, which lasted to the bottom of the pint.

Aroma is good, but not great for a fresh AIPA. Aroma is all hops, but it could be more aggressive, for this style.

Beer has a solid malt backbone, honey and toast. Hop bitterness is subdued but hop flavor is prominent, and of exceptional character. I got a growler to go. I could drink this all day.

Pour from the tap on my visit on 6/5/09. Pours a golden honey color with a small but tight white head, average lacing. The aroma was faint but had a buddy hop smell. The taste had a nice mix of grapefruit and grassy hops, very fresh hop taste. Some light honey malt to balance out the brew. Moderate body with tingly carbonation, finishes slightly bitter. A very tasty AIPA. More of hop flavor than hop bitterness which is plus in my book. Tasted very fresh and was quite enjoyable. Probably lacks the serious hop presence to make this a top notch AIPA but it is damn drinkable.

Thanks to jcwattsrugger for sharing, and his wife for picking it up!

Pours golden yellow with a nice frothy, thin head. Lacing sticks.

THe smell is pungent - zesty, piney, slightly medicinal.

The taste is bittery - lemony, herbal (slightly aspirin-ish) with a slight touch of alcohol. It has a raw, bitter bite in the finish.

The body is creamy, despite raw character.

Sharp and tasty - this is leans towards the herbal, sharp IPA more than the citric (though it's there, more initially than as it progresses). Very drinkable for hop lovers who like their beer with a bite.

Served cold in a pint glass at City Steam Brewery Cafe in Hartford, CT, this IPA shows a very light clear gold color with a reasonable white, tiny bubbled head that dissipates within a few minutes to a thin cover. The lacing creates an impressive ringed carpet. The aroma is a solid and tasteful citrus medley with a vague bread characteristic to help turn the stomach juices in anticipation of that first sip. The taste brings a sharp citrus hop but much stronger sourdough qualities that twist into an odd floral blanket on the taste buds. Not quite as straight forward as the aroma was. I get some thoughts of herbal/pine spice but as this brew mellows it's really just a nice glass of citrus hops that is drinkable, fair bodied and enjoyable. Not bad, sure to please most hop heads.

Pale yellow, crystal clear with a big fluffy and frothy head of off-white foam, leaving concentric sheets of sticky lace around the insides of the glass.

Fresh and bright aroam, lots of citrus - tangerine and sweet orange, some subtle piney notes.

Flavor is big hops (Columbus, Northern Brewer, and Amarillo), initially floral and juicy orange, moving to red grapefruit and pine. Grapefruit pith lingers.

Even mouthfeel, full and rich with a tingly finish. Very tasty beer, very drinkable.
