1pt .9 fl oz brown bottle with flip top

Kaiser Brau Veldensteiner Landbier poured a cola color and had red highlights when held up to the light. A nice 1-finger off-white/light tan head formed at the top of my pilsner glass. The nose is dominated by roasted malt, and a little nutty. The taste is slightly sweet, malty flavors of burnt toast, a hint of toffee and just enough hops to balance the lager. Mouth feel is light to light-medium with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Veldensteiner Landbier has a good flavor but is not filling making this lager very drinkable. I would even enjoy this dunkel lager on a hot summer day.

Pours a cola brown with generous head that nicely developed with a vigorous pour. Nose has some pleasant bread dough aromas, light brown baking spice, and dark but not burnt toast. Palate is on the lighter side for body, but good flavors of brown bread and a slight mineral quality. Very easy drinking and has an attractive bottle.

500 ml swing top Bottle poured into tulip glass

Pours a deep chocolate brown with a thin foam cap with no lacings. No visible carbonation.

Sweet maltiness aroma almost like molasses or sorghum and raisins.Earthy. Chocolate hints.

Carbonation on the tongue. Malty. Medium mouthfeel.

Good malty taste which I like. Clean with no bitter aftertaste. Slight sweetness lingers on the tongue. Nice beer that I would enjoy again.

A - Dark amber pour with a high beige foam that retain well. Some patchy lacing on the glass. Bottle conditioned yeast sediment at bottom of bottle.

S - Strong smell of caramel malt, rustic grains, and a bit of cocoa powder. This is a very rough beer, and actually benefits because of it.

T - Very strong malt flavors of caramel and coca hit the tongue. Has a rich finish of wheat bread and pumpernickel.

M - Feels thick and has a heavier feel than its ABV. This is an easy drinking beer however.

O - Not a bad option for the style and feels very rustic. Thus unpolished dunkel is probably more true to the style than the more known products.
