A thoroughly refreshing brew- lots of malt flavor, smooth mouthfeel, an appropriate dryness towards the end. This is a fine example of the style and if you're looking for supreme drink ability while not sacrificing flavor, this is your beer.

Smell is potent- bready, a little spicy yeast going on.

Flavor reflects those characteristics- bready, caramel towards the end, a hint of banana.

As I said, mouthfeel is smooth and modestly carbonated. Buy it! (455 characters)

The beer pours in a hazy peachy beige color with a large carbonated head.

The aroma has grainy malt, tons and tons of honey sweetness. It's almost like a honeycomb cracker. There's fruit notes of lemon and apple, along with some floral and grassy hops.

The flavor follows with that gentle honey sweetness in the front, into a crackery grainy malt along with the carbonation to carry the beer along. The finish has a grassy bitterness that really makes it really dry on the end.

A very clean beer that asks you to keep coming in for more. This is bit more bitter than I would prefer, but it's still amazing. (610 characters)

I haven't wrote a review on here for years. Why? Because Untappd is far easier and it is mobile. BeerAdvocate has been saying for half a decade that an app would be released yet they still force me to revert back to the 1990s and login to the ol' desktop PC to write a review. Seriously....even my local dive bar has an app. Get it together guys! Ok, here goes...

A: Poured from a 5L mini-keg. Instructions say to gently flip the keg and allow the sediment to mix. I did just that and opened it up. Thick, hazy, dark yellow in color with a fluffy white head that sticks for a while. Happy that it is not overcarbonated, as many unfiltered mini-keg beers end up being.

S: Sweet, malty aroma. Lots of bready notes with a bit of grassy hops in the background. Lagers have never been huge on the nose, so everything is going A-OK style-wise.

T: There are not too many kellerbiers in the US market to compare it to, but compared to the 6 or 7 kellerbiers I have tried this would definitely be in my top 3. Lots of bread-like malt flavor, with a slight ly spicy/effervescent flavor from the lager yeast. The yeast flavor is quite difficult to describe, but it contributes an amazingly complex note to the flavor profile. Noble hops are there but it is not bitter nor dry. The hops add a nice grassy, herbal, almost earthy flavor. Insanely drinkable. A great brew from start to finish.

M: Smooth, slightly chewy from the sediment. Very nice.

O: $20 for 5 liters of an authentic unfiltered lager? yes please! I look forward to revisiting this soon. (1,545 characters)

A: Copper unfiltered with a slight haziness, 3 fingers of creamy slightly beige head, medium carbonation with slowly rising bubbles. Foamy chunky lacing reminds me of snow drifts.

S: Apple sauce, cellar must, creamy, fresh apples, deep malts, much akin to the scent of Kaiserdom’s Kellerbier. Complex malts, almost getting some dark toasted notes, in spite of the colour of the beer.

T: Much like the scent, apples and apple sauce, cellar must, complex toasted and mild malts. The cellar musty malts linger in your mouth. Bitter hops are low and linger in the end.

M: Thick bready body, medium low foamy carbonation.

O: A very delicious beer. I would rate it above Kaiserdom’s, but its very comparable. Would pair well with German fare, delicious in hot weather. Glad to find another beer in this style. Cool can. (821 characters)

Pours a dull brown the colour of diarrhoea. Lots of carbonation which slows after a short while. Very little head. Curious but not appetising.

Nose has hints of sweet spice biscuits, with ginger, nutmeg and brown sugar dominating. Very slight hint of chilli. Very interesting and complex nose that bodes well for the tasting.

Taste is indeed very nice. A lot of brown sugar, but not overwhelming. Palate is a little short but is pleasant enough to be forgiven. There are underlying hints of all the spices picked up on the nose and they are pleasantly subtle. There is a slight herbal bitterness around the mid palate which could really linger longer on the finish. The flavours are very pleasant but the slightest bit longer on the palate and you have a goddamn fine drop here.

Mouthfeel is very smooth and velvety, it just glides down the gullet. I like this, and could definitely drink a lot of it. (904 characters)

A fairly nice beer. Based on some of the other reviews, I think most are not reviewed to style, or the reviewer got an old beer. Mine is nice and fresh and a fairly decent representation of the style- if not world class. Pours a slightly cloudy dark straw color with a fairly thin white head that leaves somne sloppy lacing. Clean aromas of fresh hay and soft yeasty notes with just a touch of fresh baked honeyed bread. The taste is pretty similar with a rounded fresh bread flavor lightly pierced through with some subtle noble hops. Fresh like this it is quite addictive! Very easy to approach, but with that extra something that keeps drawing you back. Very pleasant and a pleasure to find this at my local bottle shop. (723 characters)

Nice 500ml swingtop bottle purchased in Munchen.

Pours a very cloudy light-brown with hints of gold. Reasonable, filmy off-white head, and looks like it only contains very light carbonation. Looks pretty tasty, and solid.

Light carbonic nose, with a subdued hint of dusty fruit, perhaps banana or capsicum. Has a refined character of age to it. Nice.

Bready on the palate. Light spicy fruits and a soft malt character which dries out into a full rounded feel. Excellent smooth but crisp mouthfeel.

Supremely drinkable, this is a fine beer. Complex, but enjoyable. It's easy to drink, but it has the interest to keep you coming back. Wonderful. (647 characters)

appearance; cloudy pilsner color with some sediment. White head with good retntion and lacing.

smell; slightly sour malts and grain. Some leafy hops, quite gentle. Overall grassy and wet balance.

taste; Pilsner-like pale malts hints of sweetness, with a strong herbal bitter finish. Bitter bite does not hang around. Also some almost creamy hop and yeast balance. A hint of unripe avocado, strange yet good.

mouthfeel; Very tight and lively carbonation, slick and creamy in the finish, pretty complex and admirable.

drinkability; a very light, yet not boring drink, crisp and refreshing to say the least....good stuff! (622 characters)

Pours a golden urine color with some very slight haze and a a finger and a half of white head.

Bready malts with an herbal hop character and a sweet butterscotch note.

Bready and rich malt notes with some herbal hop character with butterscotch.

Full side of medium body with low carbonation, a nice slickness, and light crispness on the finish.

I'm really digging this one; I wasn't expecting much from this, but it's quite nice. I would definitely re-buy again. (466 characters)

mouthfeel - refreshing, crisp, medium to low carbonation, lighter end of medium bodied, clean finish

Poured from 500mL swing-top bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: couldy golden-brown hue with a thick finger of frothy ivory foam with OK retention. Decently attractive.

Smell: very nice malt aroma with a bit of graininess; quite a lot like mashing malt. There's a definite lager-yeast character here and a hint of noble hops. I rather like it.

Taste: good malty flavor with that hint of noble hops. Pretty good, but it's a little bit lower in intensity than the aroma. I like the composition; just a little more volume would be nice.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation. There's something else here, too, though; a je ne sais quoi of wonderful texture. I love it.

Overall: this is a very interesting beer. Subtle but flavorful in its way, and I happen to really enjoy its aroma and texture. I feel like I could quaff liters of this stuff. (865 characters)

A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high frothy white head that gradually died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface and a thick ring around the edge of the glass.
S: Aromas of bready and grainy malts and yeast are present in the smell. As the beer warms up, some hints of honey become noticeable.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and exhibits a lot of properties similar to a freshly baked loaf of artisan bread.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, relatively smooth and a bit chewy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn’t as full-bodied compared to others in the style, but it is very flavorful and quite drinkable. (747 characters)

Poured into a pint.

A - A deep orange with a finger-sized pale head. Below average retention and lacing.

S - Bready malts and grain. Seems a bit dense, although there are no vibrant aromas to speak of.

T - Something unlike anything I have had prior. Tastes of rich bread with some soft malts on the back. Quite simple, although refreshing.

M - Light to medium bodied with fair carbonation. Smooth and a full feel as the beer goes down, which is where this beer shines. It reminds me of a light lager, although bolder, smoother and well rounded.

O - Lacking a wealth of flavor but the simple bready composition makes this one enjoyable if you know what you are asking for. I had yet to have a beer of this style, thus my opinion may be skewed. I would get it again. (769 characters)

500 ml bottle, no bottled on date, poured into a nonic pint glass.

A- Pours a hazy yellow-golden color. Topped with two fingers of white head that recedes to a ring around the edge of the glass, leaves no lacing.

S- Incredible aroma of honey, smells pretty delicious. Some light, bready and grainy malts. Damn that honey smells awesome.

T- Sadly much of the honey is lost in the flavor, it's there but is relatively mild, it comes out more as the beer warms. Super malty, malts are light and grainy. Has some mild herbal and floral hops.

M- Medium-bodied, smooth feel, good carbonation.

O- An interesting beer, the highlight for me was definitely the aroma, which is amazing, it's very drinkable and would be perfect to drink outdoors in the summer. (754 characters)

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a murky amber orange color with a big white head. The head has a decent level of retention leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass once it fades away.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a doughy smell with tons of yeasty smells mixed within. Along with these smells are some light grainy smells as well as a little bit of honey and tea.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready and doughy taste with some sweeter flavors of caramel and a little bit of a orange citrus flavor. As the flavor advances a strong yeasty flavor comes to the tongue along with a little bit of a grainy and light honey taste. Toward the very end, small hints of an earthy hop joins the flavor, leaving a nice malty but smother flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is average for a brew of 5.4 % with a carbonation level that is average as well. Both the body and the carbonation are great for the brews flavors and make for a very nice easy drinker.

Overall – A nice easy drinking but flavorful and smooth tasting brew. Quite enjoyable. (1,136 characters)

A - Loving the swing top bottle! Pours a cloudy golden color with bottle-conditioned yeast in the bottom. Visible fizzy carbonation. Lacing is minor but impressive anyway.

S - Very fresh grain smell. Fresh honey, and some very mild traces of hop resin.

T - Tastes very earthy with some tangy yeast notes. There sweetness comes from a honey flavor. There is a hearty taste of fresh wheat.

M - Gritty in the finish, this is a light feeling beer with some carbonation and some sediment from the bottle.

O - A pretty good depiction of the traditional style. I like the style, the bottle, and the freindly price point ($3.99 at my local shop). I'd have this again. (665 characters)

Sitting, unannounced and inexplicable, at the Village Bottle Shop in West Lafayette, Indiana. There appears to be a date code at the bottom of the bottle but I'll be damned if I can read it. A little age has to be expected, though, and seeing as how this is an American website I feel it fair to review this beer.

Smells a little old, but not unpleasantly so. Big nodes of overripe fruit mix against some spritely Zwickel weirdness--pollen, insect parts, sunlight.

Tastes like it smells, only with a really nice, smooth, surprisingly hoppy back end that brings everything together like vanilla ice cream. Big nodes of bread and honey mix with the aforementioned weird nodes. It *is* old, but the age doesn't impart any bad flavors so much as it disrupts the balance. (769 characters)

500ml. Orangey gold pour. Thin layer of white that dissipated pretty quickly.

Aroma, malty caramel. Some hay like thing.

Taste, malt, toffee, some nut. Hay and herbal hop notes.

More carbonation than it appeared it would have, makes it a pretty nice drinker. A tad over light bodied.

2nd Kellerbier I've had, I thought it was pretty solid after mowing the lawn. (365 characters)

This was a new addition at my local beer store, figured I'd try it for $3.49 a bottle. 500 ml swing top bottle. Served in a mug, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with about an inch frothy off-white head. The head retention is good, and there's a lot of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is a bit weak but mostly sweet, it smells like grain, some honey and a bit of grassy hops. Luckily, the taste is stronger than the aroma. The brew tastes like sweet malt, grassy and herbal hops, caramel malt and some bread/grain. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit slick and is well carbonated. Drinkability is decent, it's not hard to drink this brew at all. Not a bad beer, I think it's worth a try. (699 characters)

5l minikeg. It is a hazy orangeish gold with a large, foamy white head. The smell is light and grainy. The flavor is sweet and bready but with a nice touch of noble hops in the back. Not bitter but the hops are noticeable. I was surprised by this particular one. (262 characters)

Poured from a half liter swing top bottle into a small mug.

Poured with a big foamy off-white head. The clarity of the beer is much higher than I expected. Bright golden body. Smells like a typical pale lager but with some funky and sour notes on top. The taste isn't anything crazy. Dry, slight skunk, pale malt. This bottle might have been a little past it's "drink by" date but there is no way of knowing as far as I'm aware.

Overall, I'm glad I gave this beer a try, but I won't be buying another. (503 characters)
