Pours a copper color with a mottle thin head. Huge spruce pine aroma with hints of caramel. Initial moderate bitterness with a citrus sharp hop spice. The body is thinner that usual with the thinnest hint of oak wood on top of an almost indistinguishable malt presence. Not a great IPA. Light on the malt, heavy on the grassy, earthy hops.

Very clear and amber in color. Has a perfect size head on top when poured into a glass. Has a nice hoppy IPA smell with a taste to match. The hops are not overbearing or overly bitter, but are definitely there. It is definitely a smooth beer for an IPA.

22oz bottle, more overt Prohibition era imagery on the silk-screened label, the sort becoming more and more common of late - what, is it cheaper than paper and glue?

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, frothy, and loosely foamy eggshell white head, which leaves some sudsy flotsam and jetsam lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of bitter grapefruit, orange, and lemon rind, a laid-back bready, crackery pale malt, just a hint of toffee/caramel sweetness, and a further dry pine and forest floor detritus edginess. The taste is rather dry all around - gritty, crackery pale malt, sassy pine needles and spruce tips, dried grapefruit and lemon pith, and a certain flinty stoniness, with little sense of the gently elevated ABV.

The carbonation is average in intensity, but somehow tightly wound at the same time, the body on the light side of medium weight, and yet mostly smooth, the hefty hops not the sort to mess up a good thing here, it would seem. It finishes barely off-dry, just a smidge of generic malt sweetness facing the lingering saltine cracker and citrus hop headliners.

A decent, one-sided IPA affair, this one is. Which is no big deal to me, as I'm all right with that sort of thing, as long as the malt is repped in some form, and the hops don't blow their lupulin all over me, the apparent status quo here. Speakeasy seems to like that crackery, dry malt character, now evident to me in two of their offerings - one more, and we may have a pattern.

12oz bottle in a standard pint glass.

A- Poured a dark golden-orange color with a big, 2f, white head that left lots of sticky lacing. Clean and clear carbonation.

S- Grapefruit to start, then a bit of earthy pine and some malts.

T- Citrus, grapefruit again. The malt come through in the taste, slightly sweet with some hearty bready flavor.

M- Hops hit the tongue right off and stick around for a long hop finish. Nicely carbonated, some sweets for balance. Lip-smacking.

O- Well rounded IP; hoppy and bitter but not over the top, right sweetness and abv so it's not a booze bomb or sugar cube.
