Never seen this beer in the LC here before. I'm always interested in West Coast IPAs, there's never enough around here. Oddly enough, the bottle looks like it isn't filled enough.... not sure why.
I like the look of this beer, nice golden copper colour. Next to no head though. Sweet, Citrusy notes in the smell, not unpleasant, but unusual. Intense hop taste, very grapefruity, an IPA alright, but it lacks the complexity of many IPAs I've had. Bitter and almost sour notes pervade this brew. The bitterness is nice, but not there's much in the way of balance. I'm looking for a slight sweetness, but it's not there. There's almost a slight adjunct taste as this beer warms in the mouth. A nice bite on the tongue, always a fan of that, never feels flat or thin. I'm not sure if I'm nuts about this. I don't know if I could make this a session beer, not enough complexity, and maybe a bit harsh on the bitterness, but that's personal preference. Believe me, there's better IPA's out there.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed golden color with a one finger head composed of a billowy white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is a mix of bready and cracker malt aromas with a decent showing of a grapefruit citrus and pine hop aroma. With a nice caramel and tropical fruit sweetness mixed within the aroma is rather inviting overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier crackery and biscuit taste along with some lighter hop flavors of a more grapefruit nature. As the taste advances it sweetens up a bit with some lighter caramel flavors coming to the tongue and with the more cracker flavor fading a bit. At the same time the hop flavors intensity some with both the grapefruit hop growing stronger as well as some flavor of pine and grassy hop coming to the tongue. In the end, the mix of hop, malt, and sweetness leave a rather crisp and clean hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Both were quite nice for the crisp and hopped flavors of the brew, making for a very pleasant drinking IPA.
Overall – A rather crisp and clean, overall drier IPA. Overall quite nice.
