The bottle actually says ipa. Smells delicious and alittle spicy. Pretty sweet and malty. It actually does taste like an pale ale. I can barely taste the hops but it is alright. It is like a maltier and less hoppy "just outstanding ipa"

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
Pours a clear copper with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a citrus forward smell, but an earth forward taste.
