BIg foam in the tall Peroni glass. Color is a handsome amber with plenty of carbonation. Floral hop scent. An inviting hoppy tang greets the tongue. Some slightly dank notes of resiny and herbaceous hops. Some sweet but light maltiness is welcomed. The bitter aftertaste surprises after the mild mannered introduction.

It's hard to compare this with more robust Pale Ales, but this one is quite drinkable and provides a light-bodied but hoppy alternative. From the 12 oz bottle bought at Baron's Marketplace in San Diego.

I am still at The Fridge, my local speakeasy, also known as a bottle shop, still immersed in my imagination. I am reviewing Speakeasy Ales & Lagers and I have begun to imagine that I am doing so during Prohibition while reading "Chicago Noir". Remember, beer and noir do NOT mix!

From the bottle: "Legit since 1997"; "Limited Release"; "Hand Crafted"; "A Show-Stopper"; "Tallulah mesmerizes with tropical fruit aroma and a radiant golden glow. This show-stopper is dry-hopped with Calypso and El Dorado hops and will leave you begging for and encore."; "Independently owned and operated".

Yeah, Tallulah's limited, all right. She's one tough flapper who ran to her current keeper, Double Daddy, upon her limited release from Joliet Women's Prison, but that hasn't kept her from making time with me. No matter that I already have The Old Lady, plus Big Daddy's squeeze, Scarlett, all being juggled like I am center ring in the circus. Big Daddy already suspects something is up, but if his bigger brother ever got a whiff of my dalliances, he would literally rip me apart! He is one big fellow, but since he was out of town, I called Tallulah and had her come by. She is always eager to come out and play and a quick pour was therefore in order. Two fingers of dense, eggshell-white head were the result and she merely grinned at me as I licked my chops in anticipation. Color was a deep golden-yellow (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity and the unwanted guests, Mammon, Croesus and Midas all showed up, wanting to (at least) dance with Tallulah. Jeez-O, man, don't I have enough trouble with the Daddy brothers without adding this lot to the mix? I put a record on the Victrola, spun the crank and stood back as she began to dance for us. Her flapper dress shimmied and shook and her two long strings of pearls acted as though they had minds of their own. She gave off a sweet, tropical scent, like pineapples and I began to think that maybe I ought to just hie down to Hunter's Point, join the Navy and get the hell out of town. I seem to have a penchant for playing with fire and soon, somebody was going to want some Payback. In the meantime, I was having some Tallulah and, man, she was tasty! Tropical fruits wafted over my tongue, including the aforementioned pineapple, along with mango and papaya. Her mouthfeel was a little rougher than her Speakeasy sister, Scarlett, but she knows that I don't mind it on occasion. Basking in the afterglow of her semi-dry finish, I inquired as to Double Daddy's whereabouts. Her reply that he was to meet her later, here at The Fridge, set my every nerve on edge. "What?!? Are you nuts? Why would you bring that hulk anywhere near me?" I asked. She just shrugged, lit a coffin nail, smiled at me, and resumed her dance of Salome as I felt my world begin to collapse inwards.

Poured into pint glass. Wow! Unique beer. Have tried a fair share of Pale Ale's but this is nice. Cannot judge this one by its cover (unless you mean bottle art in which case, tops). Looks eh, smells eh, but the taste, momma mia! Malty hoppy delicious. Mouthfeel is smooth and a tad creamy even. Im a big fan after one beer.

Served from a bottle into a tumbler.

Appearance: Has a deep golden hue with a one finger fluffy white head.

Smell: Smells deeply of fruit, mostly citrusy, with a slight melon note.

Taste: Has a deeply sweet, citrusy characteristic, but washes down with a crisp hoppiness and a hint of pine.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp and dry.

Overall: I loved this beer. If I had better access to it, I would definitely pick it up on a regular basis.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle/ Has a dark golden/orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell has a good bit of tropical fruits, truth in advertising. Taste is hops, some tropical fruits, a bit of pine, not much malts. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

After having favorful reviews of Bigg Daddy and Prohibation I though Tallulah would be a no- brainer. I was wrong.
Tallulah was a mediocre beer at best. The color was the high point. It was a striking orange red amber color but with a small head that failed to launch
The aroma was like a stale IPA , bland caramel malts.
The taste was equally unrefreshing with a mostly malt backbone and very little hops.
This beer was dated for August and though it's pass it's prime it shouldn't be this bad.
