look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

Appearance
One finger thick white head. Average retention. Good lacing. Yellowish golden body. Many small carbonation bubbles.

Smell
Piney citrusy hops. Very faint malt background.

Taste
This is a very well balanced ale. The hops are moderate in strength. They taste of pine and citrus. There is moderate bitterness to the hops. There is also a moderate floral character to them. This beer has a bready malt body that is somewhat sweet. Medium bodied malts to match the medium level of hopping. Drinkable yet flavorful. Excellent.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Hop bitterness and malt sweetness both linger on the palate.

Overall
This is a good beer. $5.99 for a six pack at Trader Joe's?! This is an awesome value. This is a solid, high quality brew. Great balance. Great taste.

*Review finally entered from notebook. Beer consumed/reviewed years ago:
On-tap at Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse under the name “Pete’s Midtown Pale”. FW partnered with Pete’s to serve the beers they made under their “Steinhaus” name, which is the name of the brewery they give for the contract brews they provide to Trader Joe’s.

Served with lunch in a damn iced pint glass.
A: The color is clear and deep golden beneath a finger of oily bright white head that faded to a thin collar leaving decent lace.
S: Light bready notes of crackery malt with a hint of citrus and earthy hops.
T: Follows the nose with crackery malt dominating. I get some caramel in the finish, and the aftertaste is full of herbal and leafy hops. Light bitterness with a touch of lemon zest. It’s also a bit old tasting (whether it is or not).
M: Medium-light body, low carbonation but tingly, with a drying finish and slick mouthfeel.
O: Not the greatest pale but it’s pretty straight forward and easy to drink.

Found at Trader Joe's.

Pours a mild golden hue with a frothy white head into my glass. Holds true to the style.

Hops are a cross between citrus and pine. At least to my nose. Has a note of buttery malt as well.

Clean with a good pine bite and bready finish. It could be dialed back but otherwise fits.

More on that bready finish, which is actually short-lived and bogged down by the hops.

Not bad for the style. Reasonably priced as most crafts go for over $6.99 a 6 pack.

This beer is the 5th mystery beer in my Trader Joe's pack. I thought at first glass, it look aesthetically pleasing.

A-I'm drinking this one from the bottle so as usual, I will review the packaging. It is simple with no neck sticker. Quite frankly I think it could be unforgettable.

S-The smell is pleasant and has a typical pale ale scent.

T-Refreshing, crisp, and light.

M-A little empty but quite bubbly on the tongue.

O-The beer is okay and I think I would get it again. It would go great to sip while mowing the lawn or messing around outside.

12oz bottle only a couple months old.

Look is clear, pale, golden, with a small and sticky head. Smell goes kind of metallic for me: pear, oranges, alcohol. Taste is juicy and sweet, without any off flavors. Orange peel, thick malts, crisp and bready with a bitter finish.

Very good for a tj beer.

Poured from a 12 oz stubby brown bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. 100913 freshness date stamped on front of label. Purchased at Trader Joe's (Charlottesville, VA) for $6.99.

A: Clear honey-gold with 1-2 fingers of off-white, frothy head with decent retention and plentiful crusty lace around the top of the glass.

S: Aromas are decidedly hoppy with a great mix of fresh hop, dank with milder floral orange citrus character. Malts are also part of the aroma profile with a good bready, crackery aroma too. I don't detect any yeast or alcohol aromas.

T: The flavor is excellent, especially at the price point, with a flood of bready malt, light caramel sweetness, but delicious crackery character as well. The hoppiness is balancing with tea-like herbal character up front but more orange and grapefruit citrus and floral qualities as well. The hops character really blends well with the malt profile. No yeast or alcohol character present.

M: Light-bodied with medium carbonation and a super-dry finish. There is no astringency or negative qualities.

O: One of the most drinkable beers out there. Not as iconic as SNPA but just as drinkable and very buyable at $6.99. Gotta check the bottled on date but overall a wonderful balanced APA with low ABV and superb flavor and sessionability. A really good beer when you can find it within 3-4 months of bottled on date. I wish TJ was more respectful of the beer as far as storage of this beer -- would coolers be that tough?

A leftover from a family get together, I poured this with low expectations having had their IPA earlier and found it wanting.

Poured a hazy gold with small head left faded quickly. The smell is pleasant with a light citrus scent, a little grassy, simple but not too bad. The taste is a improvement on the smell, with the citrus being upfront and a nice, semi dry fade. Not very complex, but overall enjoyable.

I would say it's not a great beer hat I would seek out, but for the price it's a winner that I would not turn down. Way to go Trader Joes!
