A - On the surface, this beer appears kind of boring looking when poured into a glass. There is no head and very little visible activity.

S - Upon smelling the beer, it is a best bland. Though there is something a bit strange there.

T - The taste of the beer starts of middling or mediocre, but after a short time the after tastes hits with no power. The first couple sips are not great and they lose interest quickly.

M - After a while, this beer made my mouth dry in a way that made me want water and no more beer.

O - After trying to give this beer a good chance it failed completely. I could not even finish the first two bottles at all. And I only managed to finish the third bottle (on the third night) by rinsing my mouth with water several times. This is the most disappointing beer I have had in a very long time.

After being pleasantly surprised by their very affordable IPA, it was with great gusto I tore into their blonde offering.

Pours an unfortunately macrolagerish yellow. Big white foam head. *sigh*

Smells like lemon peel and grain malt. Ugh.

Taste is just bad. This is the same place that made the IPA? Just rancidly awful. Grainy malt, maybe a splash of fetid lemon ... so undrinkable.

Well, I'll stick to the IPA from this place at Trader Joe's.

Mission St. Blonde Ale is a clear, golden ale with a filmy, white ring. It has a sweet, light, malt extract aroma with a minty, herbal hint. It's light bodied and a little watery with a chalky finish. It tastes quite sweet-- kind of like, well, light malt extract. There's a light, resiny bitterness after the swallow. I dumped most of the bottle into some onions and garlic I was cooking.

a: I poured this bad boy into a tall pilsner glass. Gave off a great looking head that did not hold its figure. Left quickly and in its wake left a very thin and blotchy head for the remainder of the beverage. It pours a very pretty golden straw color with nice plump bubbles trickling towards its top.

s: The smell is quite pleasant. You can smell that sweet mash that ultimately gave me this beer. Very likeable. Really looking forward to drinking this.

t: Definitely a beer that you can drink a lot of. Was a relatively clean taste that came in with little flavor and exited quickly. Reminded me very much of Budweiser (can I say that on here?) A very flat flavor that did not taste very fresh. After about the third or fourth sip the flavor components changed and it began to taste like an old Lager. Maybe something that was stored in a hot garage for a summer and then during the winer months pulled out to serve guests. I am trying not to rant, but this was a let down.

m: Watery and airy. Very light - both on feel and carbonation.

o: Overall I think I already said it - not an impressive beer. I would recommend you buy a 6-pack of the cheap stuff. It will give you what this will give you for half the price.

I picked this up at Trader Joe's where they let you buy one bottle at a time instead of the whole 6 pack. $1.17 for a single 12oz bottle with no freshness date.

The beer poured a crystal clear pale gold color with a half finger of white head that lasted about a minute. Absolutely zero lacing.

There's not much smell to this. Mostly getting apple with some sweet malt and grassy hops.

This should be called a bland ale instead of a blonde ale. It's barely more than carbonated water. Very little flavor here. It has a slight apple taste with a small kiss of honey. Hops are flavorless and don't provide much bitterness, which is OK for a blonde ale, but there's no excuse for the lack of malt.

Light and crisp from the high carbonation. Almost seltzer waterish.

Glad I only bought one of these.

Clean, golden in appearance. Rich head of carbonation, but no retention/lace.

Curious aroma. I get grains, toast, and a little hops.

Taste seems flat and grainy, with a faint citrus hops note towards the finish. The aftertaste here seems dirty, somehow, too.

This one seems to have no complexity or character, and to me is like a cross between a Fat Tire and a PBR. Didn't like.

A new Trader Joes opened up in my neighborhood on 72nd Street on Broadway on Manhattan's upper west side. I had heard a lot of good things about their beers. They seem to have a number of brands: The basic "made in mexico" brand. The Mission Street, which is a collaboration with Firestone Walker, which this is a part of. And the "german" series, which is Gordon Biersch.

I was not crazy about the blonde. It was very light in character with too much something, maybe carbonation or some other element. Color was a very light straw with a great deal of carbonation. Aroma was mostly CO2. Flavor was off, not sure what it was but kinda off. I'll give the beer another chance but my first impression was not great. .

Bottle served into a Port Brewing sampler glass at me friend's house in Orange, California. Reviewed live. Acquired at Trader Joe's for 50 cents.

A: Pours a half finger head of white colour, decent cream, fair thickness, and awful retention. Colour is a clear blonde.

Sm: Clean barley and malts. A moderate strength aroma. Bland and simple.

T: Hints of honey. Clean barley and malts. Straw. Very bland and boring. Not really balanced. Built blandly. Not full bodied.

Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit thin. A bit watery. Adequately carbonated. Complements the flavour decently.

Dr: Very drinkable, but rather boring and bland. I'd prefer more of the honey flavour. It's okay. I wouldn't get it again. A great budget beer if you're shopping at Trader Joe's.

Poured a golden yellow color with a large white head.
Smells like citrus and malt.
Tastes a bit of citrus and honey. Pretty unimpressive.
Carbonation on the lighter side, light bodied fairly drinkable.
Admittedly I am not the biggest Blonde fan, but this one was really just plain boring. Overall I probably wouldn't buy this again.

12oz bottle into pint glass.
A: Pours a clear, dark golden body, with white fluffy head and small patchy lacing. The overall clearness is a bit much, see that I can see right through it.
S: A subtle blonde note, with a hint of bready aromas and a lead on of clove.
T/M: The mouthfeel is a short waxy one, that does not last long. A strange off taste, that is not too pleasant. Notes of cardboard and subtle lemon. meh the worst part of this brew is the taste and for beer that is not good. Mouthfeel of water and shows no body on the palate.
D: Not by me, but I feel that others could find this a good beer to get into other Hefe's and lighter craft brews.

Another Trader Joe's concoction here. The beer is crystal clear and golden. The head is wispy, but did manage to leave some lacing down the glass. The aroma tells the whole story: faint hints of husky grain. The beer rolls on by without much to contribute. Nothing bad, just not much of anything.

A - Pale yellow with a foamy head, just didn't look that appetizing. Lacing was okay.

S - Slight hints of citrus, but not that strong.

T - Not malty enough, and hops didn't match.

M - Average at best.

O - Just an okay beer, not much to write about.

Into a pint glass:

A: hazy golden colored body with a small white bumpy head

S: yeasty with pale and sweet malts, sugary corn

T: sweet and watery

M: light to medium, some harshness on the tongue, sessionable, no aftertaste, sticky finish

O: I don't think this is something I need to have again, but could tolerate if served and this is all there is

12 oz bottle. Light copper hue with a small, white, short-lived head. Aroma of grassy, piney hops, some biscuit malt and hints of caramel. Light, smooth body. Not much is going on in term of flavors: some light hops, light caramel malt and hints of citrus. Short, earthy finish. This brew is inexpensive one step up from macros.

A: Similar to the other Mission St ales, this blonde has minimal head (started w/ about a finger+), and didn't stick around too long. Dark yellow in color, looks like a cider. Only a slight bit of lacing down the glass, and a slight haze.

S: Mild smell of sweet malt and of an ale yeast.

T: Tastes exactly as it smells. No complex flavors, pretty average, easy drinking. No off aftertastes. Low-no bitterness, caramel/grain flavor.

M: Watery feel in the mouth.

Overall: A "good" blonde. If served ice cold on a hot summer day, would be refreshing. I may even want to put a lemon in this beer to bring out citrus undertones and work with the sweetness.

First couple of sips are good, but eventually turns to a wet cardboard aftertaste. Sweetish and simple, with a faint hint of hops. Decently carbonated with a nice head. A more golden amber than the usual paler colors of this style. Even a little more body, it's certainly not as watery as lots of light beers.

Plain beery sort of stuff, drinkable but forgettable. I guess it does what the style is intended for. Good for topping off with that crazy double IPA to give it a decent hop flavor. 12 oz bottle from Trader Joe's.

straight up this is my least favorite style in the world. i make no bones about that, but again locked in house had to do something. served cold and poured into a pint glass.

pours a nice looking medium golden amber with a touch of light haze that settles out quickly. large head of white leaves a little side lacing but not much as it settles itself out. aroma is light grains and grasses, a touch of bready malts and a bit of a lingering hop note that is soo faint i dont know how i picked it up. clean, crisp, and light feel and flavor, there is really not much to it, a touch of peach perhaps on the tongue but that was all, nothing to write home about.

overall it was bland and underwhelming but not terrible, i have had worse for sure.

Clear, light amber with a thin skim of whitish bubbles coating the surface of the beer. Decent retention, a bit of spotty lacing. Sweet, candyish aroma with a hint of grain and lemons. Fruity flavour, sort of lemony, with some dry malt sweetness. Light bodied and dry, lowish carbonation. It was alright, but the flavour was a little thin, even for the style, but it was fairly refreshing.

A: Pours a clear dark gold with a medium white head. Nice retention, very light lace.

S: grainy quality with orange and lemon peels.

T: Upfront slightly sweet malt character with a bit of orange peel. Not much complexity.

M: Light-bodied, with a creamy quality.

O: Not horrible, a good blonde. Not much complexity...was looking for more.

Pours a clear, golden amber color. Sort of a dirty blonde. Big fluffy white head dissipates quickly. Some lacing.

Smells of malt, and a hint of yeast. Some bread notes in the background, but all very faint.

Tastes of malt and bread, a little citrus tang in the finish. Some sweet grass notes, and a mild citrus/bread after taste.

Mouthfeel is lite, with some yeasty bread notes. A somewhat dry finish.

Picked this up at Trader Joe’s. Not a bad ale, but frankly, will buy SN any day over this.

This is a decent beer, a simple bland ale that is rather like a basic, but decent, pale lager.

Dark gold, it has a medium white head soon thinning to foamy ring.

Aroma is nice grain, hay, hint of honeyed bread, overripe apples. It's fairly simple but good.

Taste is not as good, being lightly sweet faint grain, faint grassy-peppery bitterness, faint honey with biscuit finish. It ends up rather simple and rough.

pours a clear yellow/light amber tone with a finger of off-white foamy head that soon dissipates into a thin collar around the glass; spotty lacing.

nose is pretty tame... i get subdued notes of breadiness and floral hops. flavor opens with a bready/biscuity presence which is followed by some mild hop characters... clean, crisp finish. again, fairly muted all around; by and large an unexiting, inoffensive beer.

light/medium-bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation. 'average' i think suits this entry across the board; the sort of light, easy drinking beer one might be inclined to session at the beach. even at that, i think i'd be inclined to look elsewhere.

Not great, but definitely good and a great deal for the price. This beer is light and refreshing with no major flavor domination. Great to pair with something you do not want to be diminished by the beer. Sometimes it is not just what the beer has, but what it does not have. This beer does not have any bitter or hoppy flavor, and simply clean and refreshing. Add a slice of citrus for a small flavor boost!

A) 1/3" Head. White. Lighter golden with a twinge of orange. Clear. Little lacing.

S) Some kind of cotton candy, caramel. Sweet bread and light biscuity-ness.

T) Sweetish bread-malt. Some candy.

M) Light-medium

D) Not hard to drink. I usually find sweetish, bready beers to be hard to drink but this is more balanced. I'm surprised how un-offended I am.

I like the color for a light-bodied style. Red hues. Real disappointing head though.

Not much nose, either. Hint of clean hops - reminiscent of their pale, but with about 5% of the presence.

Taste is very unobtrusive. Probably better with food. Some hops, hard water taste, and a bit of earthiness, but it's all just kind of blended into an indistinct "beer" taste. Finishes dry, maybe even sandy?

Mouthfeel is watery, highly carbonated, with that dry finish lingering.

Drinkability is high. No offensive flavors, no funny sensations, just an average brew. I'd highly recommend picking up their Pale instead.
