Had seen something to the effect that this beer was now being put out by Firestone Walker for Trader Joe's, but I'm not sure whether that's the case or not. Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a hefeweizen glass.
Appearance: definitely the weakest aspect of the beer. Head is thin and doesn't last more than a few seconds. Nice golden color, paler around the edges, with a small amount of carbonation.
Smell: Mostly a pleasant, musty aroma from the yeast, with a little bit of spiciness and hints of banana and citrus at the end.
Taste: Mellow body with a bit of hop bitterness at the end, not much in the way of spiciness or citrus flavor, but certainly solid for the style.
Mouthfeel: A tad watery, but not overly so, carbonation adds a bit of a tingle. Overall very smooth.
Overall: The taste won't blow you away, but it will come as a pleasant surprise. A great value beer, and certainly better than other offerings at or above the price. (1.99 for a 22oz bottle) Worth looking into if you're having a bunch of people over and want to put out something more interesting than the usual.

I should preface this by saying that I don't care for most Heffs. I have come to trust my gut instinct when it comes to picking beer at random though, and this bottle jumped out at me from the shelf at Trader Joe's, so I figured what the hell, if it sucks, I only have to drink 650ml of it. I was blown away by how smooth the taste and mouth feel was. For me, it had very little nose and I didn't get the banana-like aftertaste that some of the other reviewers mentioned, but it is allergy season, so it might have dulled my pallet. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor of the beer however and it was surprisingly light and refreshing dispute the density and haze. It's a low ABV so it makes for a good session beer.

Very light light orange. Smells of heavy wheat and loads of bananas. Possibly some orange. Small bit of zest. Tastes the same minus the zest. Very heavy on the wheat, very HUGE on banana. Not a whole lot more than that. Maybe the slightest bit of orange. Mouthfeel is way too light. Very plain. Very boring. Not much of a finish. No layers. Just light, carbonated....boring. Nothing special. However, overall, at 1.99 this is very drinkable. Well worth 2 bucks. Beautiful for these insane amounts of 90+ degree days that are going on this summer.

Purchased for $1.99 (650mL). Here is an all around slightly above average cheap drinkable beer. Nothing special for a Hefeweizen but has enough flavor to keep you happy. The mouthfeel is soft and enjoyable, with a cleansing banana aftertaste. A perfect table beer to take gulps of, and the bottle is big enough to share.

Purchased a bottle of this at Trader Joe's for a pittance--I believe somewhere around $3.50 for a bomber. Upon opening, the nose has a good yeasty Italian bread overtone, joined by strong touches of banana, orange, and berry.
On the tongue, the beer begins with a fruit hit, as oranges, apricots, bananas, and pear notes wash across the tastebuds. These are tempered by subtle hints of spiciness, including light clove and white pepper. Toasted grain flavors are very light, and come across as fresh baguette. At the end of the mouthful, the banana flavors increase in potency, joined by a slight buttery tang. The aftertaste is a continuation of these latter flavors, and fades at a moderate pace. Mouthfeel is medium-light, and carbonation is medium.
Overall, this is surprisingly decent beer for the price, and while it won't be able to compete with a $10-per-bottle hefeweizen, it's certainly holds its own, and will likely be very appreciated by the casual drinker.

Picked this one up at Trader Joes over the weekend.
Poured a cloudy golden color with quite a bit of head. Smells sweet, citrus, and spice. Tastes like wheat, orange and coriander. Pretty smooth easy to drink beer. Very drinkable, no overpowering flavors. Pretty good for the price.

Pours a clear bubbly orange tinted golden color beneath a white medium sized carbonated head that quickly dies leaving a very small bubbly lacing.
The aroma is citrus with oranges leading the way, there is a light spice hint the aroma but I could tell what it was.
The taste is more oranges/citrus with added spices-ginger nutmeg added well to the taste, I'm not much of a hefe drinker but this stuff was above the norm. A light slightly sour/bitter aftertaste was pretty decent, not a draw back at all. Honestly I could drink a few more of these and I'm usually a Oktoberfest/ipa/and other dark beers drinker.

Poured from a 22-ounce bottle into a Weizen glass.
Pours a golden color with good deal of haze, one-finger of head and no lacing. The smell is mostly sweet and seems malty. The banana and clove aromas are initially undetectable, but then the banana emerges as the beer gets warmer.
Unfortunately, the banana aromas don't transfer over to the beer as the banana and clove are difficult to detect. A heavy carbonation overpowers the drink and leaves little room for other flavors to emerge.
Overall, not a beer I'd drink again, although I've really enjoyed other beers from the Steinhaus Brewing (aka Firestone Walker).

Appearance - Pours a cloudy golden orange with a white, finger width head which dissipates quickly, leaving behind a spotty, semi-sticky lace.
Smell - Banana and bubblegum can be found on the nose, but there's also a faint, almost medicinal quality as well.
Taste - Classic hefewiezen flavors are there, but subtle: banana, wheat, yeast, and just a touch of clove.
Mouthfeel - Light, almost watery body, but the carbonation lends itself to a nice, crisp bite.
Overall - One of the better Trader Joe's brand beers, and while it won't win any awards, at $2 a bomber it's a hell of a bargain.

picked up a bomber of this at Trader Joe's for $2. I like it already.
pours a cloudy yellow that is the color of straw. not much head and little to no lacing.
smells of grassy lemon and light bitter hops. perhaps a bit of banana and clove. pretty typical of a hef but a bit on the light side.
tastes of lemon, grass, banana & a light spicy clove. very faint bitter hop on the end that may lend a little more citrus to it
medium body. a little heavy on the carbonation that could take away a bit on the taste
fairly average hefe but I would say it is very drinkable. at 4.7% abv and under $2 a bomber, I would definitely keep this around during the warmer months for a hot summer's day.

Appearance: Radiant orange hue, consistent with the style. No foam or lacing, and it's a bit flat. No yeasty thickness.
Smell: Definitely bubblegum and a bit of banana in there somewhere.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Banana is the main flavor, with a bit of clove an nutmeg. Refreshing, but the thin mouthfeel leaves much to be desired.
Overall Drinkability: A very average beer.

22oz bottle into pint glass. From notes
A: Short head retention, with minimal lacing. A hazy, golden body with a lack of head retention.
S: Classic Hefeweizen aroma, a very good hint of what is to come. Mostly banana and clove.
T/M: As the nose suggests a full banana and clove taste, that is overall a bit light on the palate.
D: A good Hefe taste that is drinkable at a good price, 2.50$ for a 22oz.

I've been a fan of the other Mission st. beers from TJ's so I had to give this one a whirl. The appearance is spot on, with a hazy gold pour and a thick, billowy head that retains reasonably well...looks great on a hot summer night in NC. The aroma is classic hefe, with big clove and banana upfront, along with a wheaty twang, a little biscuit, some funky yeast and a little hay. The flavor has big banana and clove notes upfront, along with some hay, white pepper, biscuit, funky yeast, and a little alcohol. The mouthfeel is light and drinkability is excellent. Pretty solid hefe from TJ's, especially at $2.50 a bomber.

22 oz. bomber poured into a Kellerweis glass. Pours a hazy orange with a hint of brown, and offers a half inch of almost white foam. Decent retention and light lacing follow though the carbonation seems a bit light.
Heavy banana on the nose along with an 'old' wheat malt aroma. This improves with a bit of air and becomes better balanced with wheat and clove balancing a decreasing banana influence. A bit odd yet intriguing on the nose.
Taste follows the nose with a malty banana finish. Has a nice firm carbonation to help the feel although it was a bit disguised by the relatively dark pour. Otherwise a neutral wheat flavor with a hint of citrus. Nice body and not sweet for the style as the texture of the grain masks things well. Some band aid banana notes return on the finish to keep the drink in check, otherwise this could be a solid Hefe and is still better than most Gringo versions.

Appearance: Light Golden Amber color. Filtered, but with a light haziness similar to unfiltered hefeweizens.
Smell: Malty. Fruits (light citrus scent)
Taste: Lacking. I had trouble distinguishing any of the flavors from the malts. There is a very mild fruity scent.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, but a little strong.
Drinkability: Very drinkable, particularly ice cold on a summer day.

One of my favorites Hef's. I found the Mission St. collection at Traders Joes for $1.99 and figured i would give it a shot. That probably was one of my best decisions ever. Great smell and flavor from start to finish and something i can sit down and enjoy with dinner or if i just want a good beer.
