Picked up a couple of bombers, one from Breckenride Brewery and one from North Coast. Quality of the Breckenridge was fine, have not hit the North Coast bottle yet. Service was non-existent, although probably available if I had looked for it. I was not that impressed with the selection. They had a moderate variety of six packs, a medium amount of singles (mainly bombers), and fairly good imports. I have to admit to being focused on west coast offerings, and not finding much in that variety (one Stone, the IPA). Price seemed reasonable. As a final note, I am from Baltimore, so my perception of the selection is based against what I can get there.

Back in the mid 90s, this was one of the best places in Dallas for beer retail beer selection (now of course there is a wealth of choices). It remains quite good in terms of selection. Unfortunately, the bulk of their selection is unrefrigerated, so I mark them down a notch on quality, which I would otherwise give a 4.5. Space remains at somewhat of a premium, so they have very few macros. They usually carry most of the Belgians available in the DFW area. And the cheese counter is a convenient 10 steps away (try to grab the Chimay Grand Cru. The met bier Chimay cheese is more common but the grand cru is the ultimate in the cheese arts). Over by the refrigerated section, they sometimes have beer glassware on sale at good prices. And this is the best place in town at Christmas to find magnum bottles of Anchor OSA or Chimay Grand Reserve (sometimes they even carry a 3-liter bottle).

I prefer it to Central Market for a quick dash-in to get beer, cheese, & olives because the ease of parking and lesser amounts of traffic, as well as the fact that it's a smallish store with all of what I want within 15 feet radius of one section of the store.

Whole Foods on lower Greenville has long been a good beer stop for me during stays or visits. The selection is always good, as is the service. There's lots of variety of imports & microbrews with a fair amount of cooler space to keep beer fresh. If they don't have something on the shelf, just ask for Jeff or Greg and they'll either get it from back stock or order it for you. Every once in awhile, they may even appear with a surprise sample of something for you to try. There's also a great selection of cheese, gourmet foods & wine if you're into that. I definitely recommend stopping by, if you're looking for a decent beer.

Found this place in the beerfly directory a couple years ago, and have visited here 4 or 5 times now. Located in what I'd consider old Dallas a few miles north of downtown, found it with no problems using mapquest driving directions. This is a pretty small store as far as the Whole Foods chain goes, but when I called some of the other WF stores in the area they sent me to this one for the best beer selection. The beer selection is pretty decent , with some Belgians I hadn't seen in texas before. The craft brew selection is better than I'd expect in such a small store. The prices seem generally lower than at Central Mkt. and other bev. stores. The service has been good , especially when the beer buyer is there he's pretty knowledgeable and will special order for you if it's available.Less than half the craft and imports are in coolers - the only disapointment here. Lagunitas Gnarlywine and Hairy Eyeball, Uni's Terrible, and North Coast's Old Stock are a few of the great brews I've found here. This place is worth checking out if you're in town.

I remember a time when this was the go-to place in Dallas for "exotic" beers, a time before Central Market (their main competitor) moved into town. It's located in what passes for the HippieVille section of town, just delete "Lower" from the address in the maps search to find it.

A wide range of wine and beer selection near the deli section, each with its own aisle. Selection is very good, comparable to CM and among the best locally. Good on imports, so-so on US micros but worth a trip if you're in the area.

The only negative (aside from location and parking, CM is easier to get to) is that their beer aisle is at room temperature. A separate cold cooler is around the corner with a handful of beer, most of which are standard macros and better-known imports.

Whole foods is kind of a hippy looking hangout with odd characters wandering about (not a bad sign). A lot of generic/bulk food offerings and a good beer aisle. Selection was pretty good, and they had a few things I didn't see at Central Market, but also were missing some key players. While they had Stone IPA, no other Stone offerings to be found. Also had a few Rouges but nothing close to a full selection. Noted some good Belgian's and a few other interesting beers, so I recommend a stop. Most of their beers are room temperature, but they have some cooled as well. This is a plus for out of towners like me.
