Wow. Very creative and interesting beer. Aroma was of cherries and cough medecine (this seems very typical of most of the cherry beers I have had including cherry kriek lambic from Belgium). Poured with little head into a snifter type glass. Color was ruddy brown. Flavor was quite nice. Cherries abound and I think it was from real cherries in the brewing process (don't get me started on Sam Adams Cherry Wheat -- ARTIFICIAL CHERRY FLAVOR...). You can tell this is a dubbel from the alcohol in the taste. Hops are perfect in this beer. Just enough to let you know they are there. Recommended!

Purchased from the brewery on February 26, 2006.
A: VERY red, with a redish-pink head. Not much retention, but it leaves a little lace.
S: Sweet cherries & malty goodness.
T: The slightly tart cherry really balances/compliments the sweet malt. It's not a girlie drink. There's enough alcohol & malt here for me to feel confident in my masculinity. Back-to-back with the 'dubbel', it seems like it might have a little more kick (alcohol).
M: Moderate to full body, low to moderate carbonation.
D: Mamma said knock you out! :D

Came in a plain unlabeled 12 oz bottle with a gold cap.
purchased from brewery in november 2005.
poured a translucent ruby red with a dark pink head that instantly dropped in to a lace.
the aroma is sweet, alcohol, cherry cough suryp.
the flavor is semi-sweet with cherries dropping out to carmelized malt and some spice, maybe corriander? lingers like a cherry drop on your tounge.
the mouthfeel is a little thick.
beer is drinkable and is best enjoyed with dark chocolate.

Rumor has it that this was supposed to be their trippel release, but it didn't dry out enough. Since it really isn't a dubbel, I'm reviewing based on how it stands on it's own, not vs. other dubbels.
Pours brilliant ruby red with pinkish-red head that retains well.
Smell is a complex mix of tart cherries, horseblanket and spicy belgian flavor.
Tastes like a high octane version of their grand cru with cherries. Huge sweet front a combination of cherries and high FG. This is counter balanced by a distincly tart, lambic like flavor.
Full bodied and smooth twith just enough carbonation playing on the tongue, the huge alcohol is a bit much, but hurts the drinakability little.
This is a strange beer, easily the most complex that MBC has put out in the my last 2-3 years of regularity there. Really doesn't fit any style other that it's a big fruit beer. Definitely worth a try.
