Brown with hints of amber. Not too much head.
Plummy smell. Ripe fruit, caramel.
Caramel-molasses sweetness rounds out into a grainy richness. Metallic at the end. Metallic flavor lingers for awhile.
Grainy and rich, full bodied. The metallic flavors at the end make this a bit harder to drink a whole bunch of. Decent beer nonetheless.

I had this on tap at the brewpub.
A: Dark mohogany, lots of off-white head, some retention, nice lacing.
S: Very malty, with a little spice.
T: Dark roasty malt, molases, grape/raisin, with a little spice. Not much hop flavour, with just enough bitterness to keep it from being cloyingly sweet. Quite good (I'm close to giving it a 4.5 for flavour).
M: Body is slightly heavier than moderate. Moderate carbonation. It has a manly feel. I like it.
D: Also quite good.

Dark brown with a thick creamy head. Smells of dark sweet malt. Syrupy sweet malt with definite molasses flavor is the highlight of this brew, matched with hints of dark fruits. A bit of roast malt and bready undertones accompany the sweet well. Not overly heavy, though a very nice moderate body. Hops add just the right amount of bitterness to this one.

Had on tap at the brewery and bought a take home six pack for $8.
This review is from the bottled brew.
MBC version of their Poor Richards Ale. (Scottish Ale)
Deep, dark amber color with ruby highlights. A half inch creamy white head, that lasted only seconds. No lacing whatsoever. Strong malty aroma, with some hints of carmel and dark fruits. Very good taste, lots of malts. Maybe a hint of grapefruit, not hoppy at all. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but creamy smooth. Easy drinkability, could be a session brew, but does have a abv of 6.5%. Highly recommended!! Won't be around long, so get it while you can!

Poor Richard the beer made to celibrate Ole' Ben Franklin's 300th Birthday. I talked with the brewer (Josh) and he said he did not follow the national guidelines exactly, he cut back on the corn from 20% to 9%, and added black malt. all of the rest of the recipe he stuck to the guidelines(molasses, hops, yeast). well other than the bartender pouring a very large head on my beer it was great and i would have never guessed it had corn in the brew.
was served a deep mohogany with a pillowy off white head the fell in to a sheet.
the aroma was very malty, had a fig in there, some hopsack, and other dark dried fruits.
the flavor was very malty, carmelized, hopsack, and fig. it had the "courage" flavor which is common among scotchish beers.
the moth feel was a little thick and coated you mouth with carmelized malt.
very drinkable great beer. good job josh!
