Sampled at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Fest.
A: Black, tan head (poured from a pitcher, so there wasn't much), a little leg/lace.
S: Roasty, chocolate, molases, a little acidic?
T: Dark roasted coffee, dark rye bread, assertive bitterness, not much hop flavour, acidic.
M: Full body is dry (well attenuated for a big brew), somewhat chalky and acidic. Light to moderate carbonation.
D: Very good.

poured jet black with a pinky width off-white head that sustained the duration of the life of my glass.
the smell was roasty, spicy, coffee, molasses, hopsack, alcohol.
the taste was very strong; had a slight burnt coffee flavor, very malty, hopsack, bitter, spicy, roasty.
the mouthfeel on this beer is very thick.
i gave the drinkability score a little low because of how young this beer was; it needs a few months more aging.
i am excited about the barrel of this they are aging on a burbon cask. cant wait until next year!
They did this with the other RIS MBC made a few years ago and the outcome was good.
