As expected, this poured to a hazy cloudy golden color with thin white head, that dissipated quickly and left little or no lacing. Aroma was a veryu pleasant mix of oranges, cookie dough and and a hint of clove spice. Flavor followed true to form with more of the clove-orange mix. At 4.25%, the alcohol never made itself known. To me, the mouthfeel was somewhat chewy, due to the dough taste, and the finish was somewhat stale.

This beer, while pleasant, did not finish nearly as well as it started.

I tried some more, this time i didnt pour it out of the bottle, i found that this made a huge difference. More flavor all around.

Pours very clear for a witbier, looks like a slightly cloudy Bud. A white head forms and fades quickly, no carbonation. Smells of hints of orange and spice. Tastes salty at first and throughout. Not much of the smell transfers over to the taste. There is a taste of some floral hops at the end and the hops give it a little bit of bitterness. the hops are present in the after taste. mouthfeel is slick, kind of oily. Overall there is nothing special about this beer.

Celis White has a mild citrus nose and pours pale yellow in color with a nice full head. The body is crisp and tastes are effervescent on the tongue as the carbonation exaggerates the orange and spiced flavors. There's a light, hoppy bite and the flavors round out smoothly with a hint of banana and cream, along with the citrus fruitiness. It's delightful and surprisingly complex for a lighter brew.

This is an easy recommendation and a fine effort by Michigan Brewing to continue the tradition of Pierre Celis.

12 oz.bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a minimal head that faded quickly. Smell is of spices, black pepper, and lemons. Has a refreshingly tart, bitter sweet lemony wheat malt taste. A good brew to buddy up with after mowing the lawn on a hot afternoon.

i've heard the legends so i jumped at the cahnce when i saw a sixer of this. i guess it's not what it once was, but i can only comment on how it is

looks as i would expect a wit to, except the head is kinda lame (maybe they usually are): filmy with a couple of skylights and some ringy patches. upon further investigation it's a bit too sweet for my liking. the nose doesn't convey this as much, but it's very sweet with a not unpleasant but too magnificent apricot and pear thing. fairly spicy too. clove, appropriately enough, in the nose, though it's not isolated: maybe some cinnamon? no...allspice

well, the flavor is definitely full of pear, slightly prickly despite its lack of dryness, and fairly spiced. with a touch of bitterness. by no means great but bad would be unfair. i will enjoy drinking the other 5

Served from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass... this one pours a very slightly hazy yellow color with a bubbly white head quick to dissipate. Nothing special at all to look at.

The smell is a step up from the appearance... definite lemon notes as well as yeasty spice. Not bad.

The taste is a lot like the smell, slightly spicy, some citrus note, nothing that's going to blow you away but it's good.

This could be a quite refreshing crawfish boil or BBQ beer but I think it would be best on a hot day for sure.

Pours a clear staw color with a rather large head and no lacing. It smells very citrus--mostly lemons and a bit of grapefruit. I can also smell some pine. The taste is nothing special, but it is better than most witbiers I have had. I mainly notice a mild lemon taste throughout the beer. After a second or so, the banana flavor rises along with some spices. It finishes with a not as pleasant metallic taste, but it is luckily not that strong. The carbonation in this beer is pretty much perfect, but the beer is a bit overly watery. It's also a very drinkable beer even for someone like me who does not usually like the style. Overall, a very mild beer, but still a decent one.

A beer I have had a few times back in the day and now I see its new to western NY on tap, poured a slight hazed dirty blond with a thin white head.Lighter aromas of coriander spice and lemon rind with some toasty wheat malt underneath, somewhat watery going down when compared to the Rocky River SubChaser I had before but it lended to its drinkability a bit.It seemed a bit lighter in flavor than from what I remember light citrus and toasty malt with hints of coriander. Its refreshing and very delicate but I could use some oomph but it is good for what it is no doubt.

First thing you notice upon pouring is the flurry of tiny carbonation bubbles that seem to keep going like a certain bunny. An orange/yellow color with some cloudiness. Clean white head leaves no lacing and has little retention.

Smells of lemon rind, orange, wheat obviously, very clean aromas, with a hint of banana and clove.

Much to be desired in the taste. Very one dimensional, more clove, than anything, with the wheaty, lemon aftertaste. Finish could be a little longer and more pleasing.

Thin mouthfeel shows from the low alcohol. But because of that low alcohol I suppose this would be a good candidate for a day on the lake.

It pours a cloudy pale golden color. The head is decent, but not as large as I would expect from a wheat beer. The aroma has some sweet citrus to it. It has a slight spice to the taste, but it is sweeter than I would have liked. There are also some perfumy/flowery/honey notes as well. It finishes somewhat sweet with a little of a spicy kick. Not bad, but not great.

Pours a chunky white head over a hazy honey-infused light straw colored body. Head recedes fairly quickly, but leaves some fairly hefty bands of lace. Aromas of coriander, earth and a faint trace of citrus. A bit musty too. Spicy flavor—citrus, more pronounced coriander and pepper , and a dollop of earth for good measure. Quite acidic. A touch of yeast as well. A crisp, yet quite light, mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation.

Crsip and refreshing as a good wit should be. The body was a bit light even by with standards—although that could increase its refreshment value during lawnmower season.

I poured into a pint glass to two inches of white head. It is a very pale shade of yellow. The aroma is of wheat and Belgian yeast. I get some spiciness, but not the orange that I was expecting. The taste in some citrus with a little banana thrown in there. There is a carbonation bite. It has a grassy presence to it as well. It would prbably go down better in the summer.

I remember fondly the times in the early 1990's when I'd drive from central Illinois to Austin on vacation and bring back cases of this stuff to share with my friends..

I was excited when the bottle I cracked open looked, smelled and poured just like the original. But I found the sourness of this beer overwhelming compared to my fond memories. I could smell the coriander, but didn't find it in the taste.

Not that this is necessarily a bad beer. I'd rather drink this than a Blue Moon when I'm in the mood. I just remember a much more mellow beer with subtleness that is missing. My wife hated the original Celis White but is more than happy with this version.

I tried the Celis Grand Cru and it actually seemed closer to what I remember the White tasting like.

I wonder if I mix the two...

Strong Citrus flavor and aroma. This seemed more like sprite than beer. Nice thirst quencher, but I prefer my beer to taste a bit more like beer than 7up. Cloudy and pale yellow with moderate head and an almost overpowering orange aroma. Not something I would normally drink, but it can cool you off during the summer.

I remember having this beer back when it was brewed in Austin, TX. It was better then, but is still good now.

Appearance - Cloudy yellow with a medium white foamy head which leaves a nice lace on the glass.

Smell - not a strong aroma, lemon and orange.

Taste - lemon, orange, coriander, has a pleasant sweet flavor.

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, sweet, and clean.

Drinkability - Very drinkable, a nice sweet flavor. Very well made.

As you would expect, this is a light, straw-colored beer with a white head.

Smells good, peppery hops are at the forefront, with subtle notes of citrus in the background.

A little more bitter than I expected. Again, the peppery hops dominate.

There is some complexity in the mouth. Initially, the bitterness is mild, but it gains strength in the finish.

This was a reasonably drinkable, refreshing beer.

Poured a cloudy pale orange color with a light white head leaving a bubbly ring.

Smell has a funky yeast quality to it along with a strong lemon peel odor.

Taste is mild with a light sweet malt base and flavors of yeast and light citrus.

mouthfeel is light and dry.

A slighty above average wit, but nothing special.

A beer I have wanted to try for sometime that just showed up in the most run down liquor store in town. I only stopped to take a look because there was a "Under New Management" banner at the store.

In the glass this is a pale cloudy yellow beer with a white head a little dark for a Witbier.

The smell is sweet and spicy with a big bitter orange aroma and a smattering of other spices. Hard to pick the scents apart except for the big citrus aroma.

The taste begins sweet and spicy with a good orange taste to this. Spices are there but mostly this reminds me of vanilla. Decent wheat malt taste definitely on the sweet side.

Mouthfeel is OK.

An OK Witbier but not as good as Wittekerke in my opinion.

Poured a straw color with hardly any head to mention. Spotty, wimpy looking lace. Nose was of cut peaches, but not fresh peaches. Flavor was strong of wheat. Citrus came through as well as some unripe peaches. Mouthfeel was almost dry, but not quite. I found this beer very easy to drink, but overall it was not very inspirational.

This beer poured out as a decent looking hazy yellow cold. The head was foamy at first before it sunk into the glass. The lacing was decent. The smell of the beer was citrusy and yeasty. The taste of the beer was light, fruity and had a touch of spices in it. The mouthfeel wasn't too bad for this style. Overall it's not a bad attempt at making a Belgian White.

This is a beer that I have heard about since I began studying beer. Cloudy pale with absolutely no head and nearly no carbonation. Pleasant aroma, though light, of curacao and orange peel, along with a light hint of butter toffee. Well intricated spice, malt and light hop flavors. Butter toffee flavors, light caramel and pit fruit, with "orangey" spice flavors and hints of tropical fruit snacks. Big flavor for its size.
