As you would expect, this is a light, straw-colored beer with a white head.

Smells good, peppery hops are at the forefront, with subtle notes of citrus in the background.

A little more bitter than I expected. Again, the peppery hops dominate.

There is some complexity in the mouth. Initially, the bitterness is mild, but it gains strength in the finish.

This was a reasonably drinkable, refreshing beer.

Pours golden with a slight haze. Well developed carbonation with a creamy white, tightly knit head. The nose suggests coriander, cloves, allspice and citrus. Light-to-medium body with a little spritz on the palate and forward spice notes that make me think of pumpkin pie without the pumpkin. Well developed, broad-stroke lace. Highly refreshing wheat beer. Well balanced. Excellent both as a sipping beer and as an accompaniment to food. I'd return to this.

A- A slightly hazy golden yellow liquid with a splotchy white head with very little head retention.

S- Belgian yeast, honey, white bread, and just a hint of vegetables.

T- Same as the aroma with a nice, crisp hoppy bite. Just the right amount of sweetness.

M- Crisp and clean with a nice carbonation bite.

D- A tasty beer that goes down nicely. Thoroughly enjoyable. This could be a great choice on a hot summer day.

Had on tap.

A- Came to me with a nice 2 finger white creamy head that went down after a little bit of time. Lacing stuck to the sides of the glass but nothing too big. Nice hazy golden yellow color.

S- True to the style I picked up a lot of clove right off the get go with some orange citrus undertones that mingled perfect. Some lemon zest comes and goes. Nice yeasty bready smell that comes through as a whole. There is a spicey aroma I pick up as well but don't know if I like it or not.

T- Big doughy yeast taste right up front. Some bitterness to it actually. Nice clove taste in the middle along with a hint of banana I think with some orange zing to it. Good tasting beer with a bit of funk taste at the end which makes it a little more enjoyable.

M- This had a medium-heavy mouthfeel to it. Good carbonation with this beer makes the tasting more enjoyable. Leaves a sweet funky taste in the mouth that is neither bad or good just kind of different.

D- I was suprised with this beer and had a couple more glasses of it when I was there. I would recommend this beer to someone who isn't a big fan of the style to help break them into it.

I poured this into my pilsner glass. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a thick white fluffy heading.Lacing all throughout the tasting.

Smell is mainly of clove followed by orange peels,a slight yeasty spiciness along with a slight grapefruit aroma.

Taste is bit more citrus zesty.Orange peel pucnhes you right in the mouth after that citrus splash. Clove and corriander takes over. Also has a very nice wheat malt backbone.

Mouth is light bodied, but slightly undercarbonated for my taste. Finishes very clean and bubbley.

Drink is great very easy to polish off a few rounds. Maybe a little bit more citrusy then most would want but an easy going beverage.

poured from bottle into pint glass; has a dull golden opaque appearance. head is white before disappearing completely. smells fairly citrusy, not much else on the nose (not that i can notice anyway). taste is mainly a mild spiciness, corriander being the most noticeable, with some clove and lemon/citrus zest. just a faint hop presence on finish, with some malts. taste doesn't blow me away, but its not bad. beer has good carbonation, without a whole lot of bite. body is just about right for a witbier, not overly thin but less than medium bodied. i found it to be a very drinkable beer, (a nice one for a hot day) if average in most other ways. not a bad example of the style, though certainly not the best.

Beer pours a hazy, light, straw yellow with a 1 finger head that dissipates quickly, some lacing left in glass. Smell is of bitter orange peel, coriander and some citrus zest. Taste is of citrus and orange peel, citrus zest and coriander that are blended well and not overdone. Carbonation is good, not over done. Mouth feel was soft and tart.

A great beer from an American brewery where Wit beers are rarely done as well and their Belgian counterparts. Refreshing and well done, especially as it warms closer to room temperature.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint.

A: Hazy dark golden color. Low carbonation. Pours into a half finger, bubbly, white head. Settles pretty quickly.

S: Yeast, wheat, lemon and orange. Also, something a little sweet, maybe honey?

T: Tastes like it smells. Wheat, yeast, a little hoppy bite is offset by citrus. . . lemon and the sweetness of orange.

M: Despite appearance, carbonation is prominent, but doesn't affect beer negatively. Nice sweet but slightly bitter aftertaste. Light body, and a refreshing quality.

D: Very good. Nice flavor and body.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Appearance in pretty mediocre (but not unusual for a wit), nose is great. Alot of stuff in there. Nice complex palette, great balance of flavors. Fruit is subtle, so as not to overpower the grains, but a very big part of this brew. Overall, this is a great quaff.

Presentation: Brown pop top 12oz, nice label, just past the best by date

Appearance: Hazy dark gold beer, a hard pour produces a big soapy white cap with large bubbles that fades fast to a thick film and ring

Smell: Simultaneously sweet sugary/tart orange aromas, backed with a bit of wheat and lemon...nice, but pretty standard...only mild hints of spice

Taste: This is nicely balanced, though definitely a bit more in the "tart" than "sweet" category (which I like). A bit of funky tart lemon up front, followed by a light bitter hoppiness, wheat malt on the middle, and a touch of fresh orange peel on the finish. Just a hint of pepper at the end, otherwise not much in the way of spice.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and incredibly refreshing; this would make an awesome hot weather quaffer

Drinkability: Quite high, especially with the tart refreshing nature of the beer and low abv

Conclusion: Nice, simple, way drinkable, and immensely refreshing; how have I not tried this before? PERFECT summer quaffer, this beats the crap out of most highly-marketed "Summer Beers"

Cloudy yellow color with decent amount of head. Smell is citrus.. a lot of lemon.

Taste is almost pure citrus. Loads of fresh lemon and slight orange. Cloves, cinnamon, and coriander. Tastes very fresh with lots of flavor.. very refreshing and probably the best I have had in this style.

This turned out to be a pleasant surprise. A great summer beer.

I like this. Appearance was a hazy yellow/clear with a one inch head that settled to a thin layer. Smell was a little citrusy and zesty. Taste was light and smooth with a bit of fruit and spice. Very refreshing. Medium mouthfeel and smooth-n-easy drinkablity. Give me a few of these while doing yardwork.

A: A pale, hazy, almost milky yellow. The white head is pretty large, dense, and creamy, with solid retention and some nice lacing.

S: Cloves are most noticeable. Orange peel is also present, along with a slightly sour yeastiness. Perhaps a bit peppery as well.

T: Wheaty malt, with a tart yeastiness. Clove takes a back seat to orange peel in terms of flavor, although both are represented reasonably well. Somewhat seltzery in the finish.

M: Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is a touch light. A somewhat sweet, yet watery feel.

D: Refreshing, with a nice array of flavors. I especially like where the yeast seems to be going - I wish it were more pronounced. This one actually improves substantially as it warms. A bit sterile and lifeless when cold, it becomes more lively and interesting as it goes. I might have to give this another go sometime to get a second opinion.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into an American pint glass. With a small bright white colored head. It is slightly cloudy with a pale golden color and a decent amount of carbonation. The aroma is a crisp citrus with coriander and lemon notes. At 3.9% I wasn't expecting a ton of flavor. It doesn't lack but its extremely light with a nice light citrus. The spices in the aroma come through and help balance the beer, but it still falls somewhat sort. But overall very drinkable and a pleasant treat. I could see this being especially tasty on a hot summer day.

A: pours cloudy like most wheat beers. yellowish orange with a fluffy white head.

S: good nose with floral and citrus hoppy notes. I can really smell orange and lemon zest

T: Great flavors of orange and clove. Subtle bannana, this is a fruit cocktail if you really focus. Great complexity of flavors

M: average medium to light body. wheat beer doesn't do it for me in this category, but its hard to penalize a beer for sticking to its style. Its a good feel.

D: Right up there as one of my favorite wheat beers.

Celis White, 3.9% ABV?
Tasted/reviewed @ DBA, NOLA - 3/20/09 (afternoon)
bottle>pint glass
A 3.5 - cloudy dark straw type color, cloudy but less than expected, solid head with minimal lace.
S 4.5 - Clove and fruit notes - de-lish!
T 4.0 - tastes as smells, but a lighter version of a witbier IMO, sweet on finish.
MF 3.5 - crsip, light, high carbonation.
D 3.5 - good light witbier. Low ABV, it was not as enjoyable as rare for me to find in FL, but I enjoyed the experience.

Poured from a 12oz bottle, pale golden orange color, mostly clear with just a little haze, almost no head. I think the smell is more German weisse than Belgian wit, not as much coriander or orange or yeast as I expected. Still good aromas but not quite what I expected based on my memory of the Celis-brewed beer from TX. The taste is Americn wheat / German weisse, not wit (same as aromas). Refreshing and light bodied, a very good summer beer that misses the mark of the style for me.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: Hazy gold color with a bright white head. The head settled out fairly quickly.

S: Wheat and yeast aromas blended with coriander, orange and other sweet spice notes. Becomes even more citrus-dominated as it warms.

T: Very dominant citrus overtones with a soft wheat backbone. Hints of coriander, clove and other spices as well, and the yeast adds its own fruity character.

M: Fairly light-bodied and smooth on the palate, thanks to a medium amount of carbonation. Aftertaste is sweet and fruity.

D: A very drinkable witbier. One could easily spend a warm night on the back porch with a few of these.

A light, subtle and refreshing beer. If you're looking for big, bold flavors, then this is not the one to choose. However, I found it to be quite delicious and refreshing, and I would certainly consider bringing a sixer of this to my next party.

Clear golden pour with a fluffy white head that laid down some decent lace. Crisp aromas of wheat and citrus (perhaps orange). Lovely clean lemon and wheat flavours, with notes of corriander. So crisp and refreshing its marvellous. The body is on the light side, with medium carbonation, but I feel this suits the style well. A very nice Belgian wit.

Pours a perfectly clear gold with a small white head that dies quickly to leave a mostly transparent sheet. Aromas of orange peel and coriander are very prominent, with malty sweetness and some spicy, yeasty notes backing them. The malt comes forward in the taste, with a slight tart character from the wheat emerging first, followed by sweet fruitiness and a spicy, tangy finish. Pleasant wit, but nothing really special.

Pours a clear staw color with a rather large head and no lacing. It smells very citrus--mostly lemons and a bit of grapefruit. I can also smell some pine. The taste is nothing special, but it is better than most witbiers I have had. I mainly notice a mild lemon taste throughout the beer. After a second or so, the banana flavor rises along with some spices. It finishes with a not as pleasant metallic taste, but it is luckily not that strong. The carbonation in this beer is pretty much perfect, but the beer is a bit overly watery. It's also a very drinkable beer even for someone like me who does not usually like the style. Overall, a very mild beer, but still a decent one.

Hazy straw color with about one finger of white frothy head.

Very mild aroma. A little bit of bubblegum...some citrus and herbal smells as well.

Mild citrus flavor...very herbal/spicy/floral...slight sweet-tartness pulling at the corners of my mouth

Pours a hazy corn yellow with a multi-sized soap foam head. Smell of bananas and grainy malts. Taste is a somewhwat watery, banana flavor hits the palate first, then some citrus and spice. Other notes of light fruit present as well, like pears and some apricot or peach. Oddly sweet at first, then fades away. A thin bubbly body with a mild yeasty finish.
