Golden amber in the glass with very little foam. Aroma is wet cardboard. The long bitter and dirty aftertaste is the deal breaker for me. Flavor of flat soda water. Strangely bitter, and then the metallic taste you can't get out of your mouth. No date, so maybe this has been around a while. Tastes like the flavor was wrung out of it by some chemical process, like a really bad near beer.

This is baffling. I like decent low-alcohol beers, but why would you want to brew a lite version of a style that needs some warmth and malt?

Pale bock isn't so pale, clear copper color with a small white colored head.

Smell is sweet and malty with a strong fresh bread aroma. Bruised banana scent and a little almond. Hops are of the Nobel type.

Starts out a little sweet with a nice toasted whole grain bread flavor. Slight bitter bite in the aftertaste but is by no means harsh and is about right. Slight banana flavor but not quite Banana Bread.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall , Impressive for the low alcohol content. Tasty let something you can drink all night.

I drank this from a pub glass...

The beer is an amber/ copper color with a thin off white head. It smells of over-ripened fruit, some apricot and caramel malt, it's almost candylike. The beer is kind of watery, I could taste some nutty roasted malt and Belgian yeast, that's about it. The beer is thin and watery with lots of carbonation and kind of musty. This is a beer that I wouldn't want to drink again.

This pours out as a nice amber color with. Yellowish tan head on it. The smell of the beer is sweet and had a slight funk to it. The taste of the beer was of sweet roasted caramel and rich malts. I found this to be decent to say the least. It wasn't something I'd need to have again.

A soft, two-finger muted white head tops this brew, with glass stickers as it recedes. A clear amber color, active carbonation with very small bubbles keep the head around awhile.

The aroma of hops comes through in the scent, with a hint of citrus. First sip brings bright, bitter hops up front, with bread and malted grain flavors mellowing the middle of the palate. Lingering grapefruit notes in a hop accented finish, reminiscent of an ESB.

Well received in the mouth and a generally decent brew.

This beer is a deep coppery orange in color. A white head stands about one finger tall without ever really fading away and leaves fairly thick, spotty lacing down the glass as the beer recedes.
There's a bit of fruity sweetness on the nose beneath a toasty malt and a touch of herbal spiciness. Overall it's a bit faint up close and could use just a bit more balance.
The flavor is also mainly sweet and spicy beneath a malt backbone. There is a bit more hops presence in here than in the nose and balances better with the toasty/bready malts. There's a bit of odd spiciness lingering with hops in the finish.
The mouthfeel starts off with a crisp bite and gets smooth in the finish, but not before hitting a rough patch of graininess. The body is on the light side of medium and carbonation is moderate.
This beer has an impressively low ABV, and given that it's pretty good overall it's highly drinkable.

A - Light Brown almost copper color. Appealing at first. Little head but good visual carbonation.

S - Almost no smell at all. A little malt comes through.

T - Well balanced, but very little flavor at all. Slight malty after taste. Sweet flavor stays in the mouth quite a bit

M - Very light, little actual carbonation feel in the mouth

D - Good drink-ability like a domestic light, but does make me want to drink more than 2 though.

Overall I am not a big fan.

Pours into an amber bodied brew with a creamy white head that has good retention, good lacing and good carbonation. The smell consists of tart apples, caramel, some flowers and some sweet malts. It has a nice smell to it, but the taste is not nearly as good as the smell. I taste some spiciness right away followed by some tart apples, caramel, dark fruits and hops. The aftertaste is of old apples and the mouthfeel is a creamy light bodied and is very drinkable since it is rather light. This beer in taste and feel does not do much for me, but I only have this one that came in the Michigan Brewing Company Sampler Pack.

Color bordering on orange and yellow, good head. Couldn't put a finger on what I was smelling, lots of stuff, old fruit, alcohol, wood, chemicals.

Taste was all over the place too, metallic, pruney, then dry apples? Unique I guess, but nowhere near as good as their white ale. Kind of a weird aftertaste too, you just never know which aspect from the profile will hit you, and they aren't consistent with any style altogether, and definitely not a bock. I mean, if you're gonna throw all that out the window, the least you could do is add some hops.

I poured into a pint glass to a small off white head. The beer is amber colored. The aroma is spicy with sweet malt. The taste is spicy up front and finishes with caramel malt. This is a pretty bland beer. I guess I could drink a lot of it if I was in the mood for something boring and tastless.

12oz bottle, pint glass

A - pours with barely a quarter inch of white fizz, settles to a thin layer and ring within a couple minutes. the beer is hazy, burnt copper in color. BPA?

S - lightly sweet caramel malts, some belgian yeast and a thin spicy finish.

T - very malty...toffee, caramel, brown sugar - slightly artificial. grains and nary a bit of hop bitterness, light metallic finish.

M - light body with firm carbonation. a little sticky.

D - well, its not awful but doesnt really fit the style at all...more like a bock (surprise). ill finish this and leave the rest for someone else.

12 oz.

Pours a clear light maple bronze. Slightly off-white head is sudsy at first and retains as a film.

Smells coppery and a bit malty, like molasses.

Taste is grainy and mildly tart, like soured grapes. There's a subtle lager bitterness.

Body is moderate and carbonation is mild but consistent.

Meh. It does okay, but it doesn't really stand out in any way. Would be easy to drink a few, and there's no reason why you would turn up your nose at it, but there's nothing to make you seek this out ahead of a hundred other beers either.

A- Dark amber, clear body with a pretty standard head.

S- The smell clean with smells of biscuit dough, caramel, and a hint of apple

T- Taste is a light with a cracker-like grain quality and some moist hay flavors. Slightly floral hops

M- Ultra light and clean with minimal carbonation.

D- Pretty easy to down a few but nothing exciting enough to make me want to buy another 6-pack

Beware the singles bin: I noticed after purchasing a BB date of 05/31/06. Regardless, this beer held up in most respects. Hazy, dark honey / amber colour with one finger off-white head that left a ring and wispy surface featuring several large bubbles sitting still atop the brew. Some sheet lace. Smell was sweet with honey dew and vanilla wafer, a bit spicy, overall very pleasant aroma. Taste was tart and a bit sour, dark fruit, roasted malt, increasing oak with air. Texture was syrupy and a bit too boozy. Still, the style was recognizable as a bock and still quite quaffable, a bit too much alcohol but not bad. Interesting, to say the least.

Pours a hazy but bright amber color, with a pleasant filmy head that sticks to the surface.

Smell is very sweet, with a nice burnt malt and fruity hops combo. Maybe just a bit too sweet.

Taste is more malt than I expected, with a subtle burnt quality like the smell. The finish is slightly bready with a little kick of hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is quite carbonated, but not bad.

Drinkability is very good, just a bit too bland to get excited about.

Overall, a good beer, but whatever.

I'm on a quest to find a pale bock without a weird aftertaste.

I drank this right out of the bottle so I'm not sure about the appearance.

Smell was average and nicely balanced with a slightly sweet aroma.

Taste was kind of mild with that weird aftertaste I mentioned above. Nice balance of hops and malt with the malt coming out the winner.

Mouthfeel and drinkability were right down the middle.
