I want to thank TripelJ for bringing this back from his recent trip to MI.
Pours a straw color with a smallish head that dissipates to large islands of film.
Smell is malt, hops, "herbs and spices" of which I detected a blend of spices with none standing out and a hint of grass. Good balance.
Taste is, in order of appearance, hops, malt, spice, alcohol (big presence although the label does not indicate ABV). Flavors came and went like meeting people at the door, "Hi, I'm hops, see ya later. Hello, malt here, good to meet you.", etc. Aftertaste is spice, alcohol then eventually hops.
Medium bodied with effervescence on the tip of the tongue. A bit of a greasy feel on the tongue and roof of the mouth after swallowing. Not bad, just unusual. Overall, a good beer but hardly a standout. Nothing great. The flavors are good, the nose well-balanced, the alcohol bloom is a bit overdone though, considering it's only 8 %.
