330ml bottle. Shaker glass. Pale brass, foggy appearance.White & lively froth creates close but quickly dissipated crown. Intense herbal aromas, as well as banana, fresh bread & hints of vanilla to the nose. Sparkling upfront. Light body. High carbonation. Oily to watery texture & fizzy palate. Earthy bitterness & quince astringency.

Nice, soft Alt offering…
Presentation: 33 cl draft pour at a German inspired spot in Madrid. No menu or description available, in fact colloquially offered as the "tostada"… Served in a Rhenania stange.
A - Clear amber/crimson pour with a nice creamy head, fair retention and surface memory with some touches of lacing.
S - Softly fruity and malty… quite shy.
T - Expanding gently on the palate, some bready notes with a somewhat generic and pleasing fruity sense.
M - Light-medium body with medium and fair carbonation providing a nice tingle in the finish.
O - An easy flowing Alt that is pretty pleasing.
Notes: Nothing that memorable but pretty decent and surprising given the circumstances on this day and place. Worth revisiting if around, which I did a couple of times…

A: This Altbier pours copper-coloured with a large thick white head that takes some time to dissipate leaving some lacings.
S: It smells of lightroasted caramellmalt, but the smell isn't strong. There is bitterhops and citric notes.
T: A bit rough, dry and mild with lightroasted notes together with some fruit.
M: At first there is a metallic feeling, and then there is the roughness from the taste. It's dry with short aftertaste.
D: Not very interesting, it goes down smoothly but doesn't stand out.

The colour is deep amber, the liquid is clear. The compact beige head is two fingers high. A fine lacing occurs.
The smell is very malty. Beef stock. Crisp rye bread. Really nice, reminds me of a good pale ale.
The taste is fresh with lots of malt. Some earthy notes. The taste is full bodied. Some beef stock and a medium strong bitterness. The aftertaste is malty and robust with notes of pumpernickel and hints of iodine and minerals. Peach candy and an elegant bitterness in the aftertaste.
The carbonation is mild, the bubbles medium sized. The liquid is smooth and light at the same time.
A great ale and a great Altbier.

My first altbier, and I liked it. The smell is much like the smell of a pilsner, with sweet, grainy, bready malt. The taste is different, however. Lots of malt, too, but fruity, smooth and rich, with notes of raisin, dark bread and some syrup.
Certainly worth a try.

My very first real altbier! Though I've tried something from Zeunerts that seemed to be a mix of alt and lager.
Very nice! The bottle looks really "old school" and the beer in the glass is amber colored with a nice big white head.
Smells nicely of freshly baked bread and a nice touch of flowers (or "blommighet" as we say in Sweden).
The taste is even better! Lots of dark bread, malts and a nice sweetness that is balanced by a very small sourness. Highly drinkable!
