I poured this into a Guinness pint glass. It had a very dark brown color.
S: Wow, it had a real candy like aroma. It reminded me of that hard Christmas candy that comes in a tin case. There was also a maraschino cherry smell. Towards the end of the glass a slight smell of alcohol could be detected, but as I neared the end, the alcohol really came through. A dark cherry flavor also accompanied the smell of alcohol.
T: It was very similar to the aroma. It had a sweet candy taste mixed with toasted malts. The taste wasn't too strong, more on the sweet side in the beginning. But things changed as I neared the end.
There wasn't much of the 8.3% ABV. However, towards the end the alcohol started to come through. It started to have a dark cherry schnapps flavor.
Conclusion: A very interesting porter. I have never had a porter that was as sweet tasting has this. I wouldn't drink this with a meal, but I would certainly have it afterwards with dessert I liked it to a point. A pint glass was too much. A brandy snifter would be a better glass. One 500ml bottle could be shared by two, possibly three people as an after dinner beer.
On a Side Note: It was cheap, flavorful, and loaded with alcohol - it will get the job done. I would purchase this if I was planning on getting drunk on something with flavor and on the cheap side.

Definitely needs to sampled out of bottle. In bottle has the taste of cap ( metal ). Loved this beer from first , 5 years ago. Great flavor that reminds me of Guinness Stout only sweeter. Like Guinness has a thick head when poured carefully in the glass. Has become very difficult to find in Peoria area.
