This beer poured a golden copper color with a two finger high, white head. The head dissipated into a thin lace that barely coated the top of the beer, let alone the glass. The initial smell of the beer was wheat and barley, with a subtle sweetness of perhaps a berry fruit. The taste was all slightly sweet barley. The flavors stuck to the tongue and were not what I preferred. The brew had a light to medium body with medium to high carbonation.

Overall, this was alright. Polish beers stick out easily and pretty distinct in their flavor, which is highly characteristic of this beer. However, there isn't much to set this beer apart from the rest, other than me liking the brewery's porter.

There really isn't much difference beyween Okocim Lager & Okocim Mocne. This is a very flat looking lager with little head. Reminds me of apple juice. The mouthfeel is smooth/flat and lacks body. The taste is bland....light malt, not really any hoppiness. Some alcohol aftertaste. A boring beer experience.

Appearance – This one is a very, very light orange in color and clear with a good head that left a little foamy ring on top of the liquid.

Smell – This is grain and booze galore. The grains are sweetened with orange juice. The nose is actually kind of smooth all things considered.

Taste – This is Polish Malt Liquor in a nutshell. The grain is fierce yet smoothed out by the lagering process. The alcohol actually isn’t as harsh at the taste as it was in the nose.

Mouthfeel – This one is medium-bodied with a sharp alcohol sensation in the mouth that soothes and doesn’t sting. The carbonation is light but lively.

Drinkability – This wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It beats most American malt liquors all to hell. It really does go down smooth. I like.

Poured into a nonic. Deep golden, lots of visible carbonation, leaves behind a solid level of creamy head, great retention, a thin ring survives to till the end.

Nose is stale malts, corn, a bit of hops I suppose, and a metallic twang.

A boozy affair, this beer starts off admirably enough, but becomes less enjoyable with each passing sip. Sickly sweet to begin, with some pretty uninspired malts, and ends with a medicine-metallic dry taste that becomes increasingly more challenging to power through as I go along. I finished it, but reluctantly. Like Samuel Jackson Ale, "It'll get you drunk!" But then again, so will liquor or better beer.

Fun fact: apparently "mocne" is Polish for cheap, boozy swill. Avoid.

Pours a medium clear yellow with a half finger white head that melts to semi-sticky lacing.
Aromas are sweet lager pale malts.
Taste is lager sweet malt again with a little stickiness to the taste and definate alcohol warmth going down.
Not a lot going for this one other than a pure lager with not adjuncts noticable and lots and lots of alcohol.
I picture a lot of people in Poland going to bed with a smile and waking with a headache.

My latest "Fight Night" beer poured a yellow that bordered on orange and showed a loose white head that soon departed leaving just a ring.
Either my sense of smell is bad or this beer just wasn't all that fragrant. Pleasantly smooth and somewhat creamy mouthfeel with no negatives to speak of.
Taste is hard for me to describe but was enjoyable, not bitter or harsh. I would not mind having this again and trying this brands other offerings.

A decent unoffensive brew that you can have again and again. Malty and did pick up carbonation others didn't, perhaps theirs was too cold or old and mine fresh in. And that likely affected taste and ratings too. Cannot detect the high alcohol. Sweet up front with tad bitter at end.

A crystal clear golden body displays dozens of streams of fast rising bubbles. It's quite effervescent! The bright-white head starts full and frothy, holds well, and then drops to a creamy 1/4" lid. The retention is quite good and it holds through the entire glass leaving spotty lace as it goes. The aroma clearly expresses alcohol along with some grainy/husky malt. It's very clean, however, and the alcohol isn't overly distracting. The medium body is accentuated by its effervescent carbonation leaving a mouthfeel that's gently crisp. In the flavor a clean, lightly sweet, and grainy malt is tempered by alcohol. It's not overbearing, but present, and seems to diminish a bit as you progress through the glass. It finishes with a drop of sweet honeyish malt on the front of the tongue. One of the better strong Polish lagers.

Pours a clear pale yellow color with a small white head that does a decent job sticking to the sides of the glass. Smell is faint with some slight grain and hop aromas and an unpleasant metallic twang. The alcohol is pretty evident in the nose as well. The taste is sweet malt and once again an offensive almost metallic taste in the finish. The alcohol also makes it's presence felt in the taste. Overall, I am surprised with how bad this beer is considering it is coming from Okocim who make a really nice porter. I don't think I will waste my time on this again.

Pours with a soft white head over clear golden liquid, actively carbonated. Nose is malty with just a hint of pear. Taste is predominately sweet , showing hints of dryness and a strangely metallic presence, then some alcohol flavors. A touch of bitterness in the finish, fades out quickly. An unremarkable strong lager.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours a deep golden color with a half inch head. Head doesn't linger but does yield some light lacing.

Notes of grass, hops and sweet malts on the nose. A bit musky. Somewhat creamy of roasted malts on the tongue with a thick close. A bit sweet and cloaking with a simple sugary tingly finish. Feel is a bit numbing and drinkability is unimpressive. In fact I didn't finish it. Certainly could have, but thought I'd prioritize some better tasting calories.

Not really familiar with the style, yet this brew doesn't impress.

Pours a clear, light golden color with two fingers of dense white head that had decent retention before settling to a thick cap. Large amount of lacing is left on the glass. The aroma is not as impressive as the appearance. It is grainy, sweet malt, and just a faint wisp of hops. The beer comes back to life in taste. Not too sweet with a decent amount of hops to balance things out. Almost has a clean finish but there is a little lingering astringency. Otherwise has the Polish lager taste. The body is light despite the elevated ABV. Good carbonation that is far from harsh. I think I picked this bottle up right after it got off the truck at the store. So it may of benefited by being as fresh as an import could be. Add some more hops and this beer could be something really good.

Poured from the 500ml bottle into a pint glass. Poured a golden yellow color with active white foam dissapating very quickly. No lacing left behind.

Smell is unremarkable. That basic beer smell if you will.

Taste is malty and modestly hoppy. Corn, grains, etc. Its like your basic American lager, but with the malt liquor taste running through. Its not "clean" in the classic sense - maybe instead a little dirty.

A drinkable brew - not as smooth as a plain lager, but good enough to come back to.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a golden color wit a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts. Taste is of malts, alcohol, a touch of sweetness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this makes for a fairly decent brew.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear golden color ale with a medium pure white foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sweet adjunct is not too strong but not that pleasant either. Taste is also dominated by sweet adjunct with light cardboard notes. Body is slightly oily with medium carbonation. Not something I really cared about or that I would need to revisit again.

Getting bigger bottles is always a challenge. If you enjoy what is being offered, you get your money's worth. If you get some corn in a can, well, at least you didn't pay too much.

The beer poured real nice, big fluffy head, nice maroon color, excellent carbonation, it was a real treat to see after installing a new air conditioner. Smell was just your basic corny filler, but served cold, it made all the spicy stuff coming off the grill fantastic.

Vegetably, almost baked, like a pot pie. Not really much going on, but really fresh. Heavy toasted malt, with almost no hoppy yang. So refreshing, yet so empty. Honesty, it's just really good filler.

Enough food, & you can have one of these every other beer. There is no sense of alcohol; light as can be. No respect that there are people who have to work tomorrow. :P

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden straw amber with a two finger white head that dissipates quickly to a thick cap with heavy lacing. Aroma malty; bready malt, slightly sour and grainy. Similar to a somewhat soured bock. Flavor is sweet malt, grain and adjuncts, hints of apple juice and diacetyl. Hints of hops and oxidation in the finish. Mild flavor does not quite cover the alcohol, tasting like a fortified light bock. Light bodied with decent carbonation. This can is also labled "Malt Liquor" obviously for the US market and that is actually a good description. This tastes like a slightly maltier adjunct lager fortified for getting a buzz. Except for the diacetyl, no real off flavors, but nothing much to recommend it either. A cheap, fortified lager. Needed to tick this brewery and style. Done and moving on.

Poured from the 500ml.brown bottle into a 13.5oz tulip yeilds a pristene yellow-gold lager with a 1/2" of snow white foam. The head falls quickly leaving decent lace and some room to top it with some of the remaining beer.

Has a fairly strong cereal grain smell to it, just on the sweet side with a bit of hop and alcohol in the background.

Same taste as smell with a bit more depth and a grassy straw (hay) finish to it. Fairly well balanced and a light body give this brew a thirst quenching ability...even with it's above 7% ABV.

Worth a try and it certainly suits it's style.

Came in a 500ml brown bottle, with a freshness date on the back label. Pours out a deep clear golden hue with a big foamy head. Head subsides after a while, but leaves a bit of lacing down the glass. Nose is of malt, grass, a bit spicy and floral hops. Flavour is balanced, leaning more towards the malt side, mild spice, a little bit of herbs/hay. Goes down smooth at first, but the alcohol content proceeds to provide a bit of a kick in the aftertaste.
Drinkable, but in small doses.

The quintessential lager color a unblurred gold, the head portly in size, brilliant white in color, frothy in texture and as it disintegrates, a fine film of lace forms on the glass. Prototypical lager nose, malt, citrus crisp, clean and fresh, with the start cloyingly sweet, full of malt with the top skimpy in its feel to the palate. Finish is stingingly acidic, alcohol bitter along with the hops that are pertinent to the style, the alcohol bitterness lingers on as a substitute for the aftertaste, and the 7.8% ABV, gives the “Tummy” a bit of warming. Damn I wish this was their Porter, but this is just an average lager with double the alcohol, which does little for me.

7.1%ABV 500ml can, lets hope I enjoy it more than the bottle I reviewed back in 2008.

The can had a best before of 27 Apr 2011, it was reviewed two months later: poured into my Budweiser Budvar 0.2 litre tasting glass on 23 Jun 2011.

No complaints from the look, bright, clear and golden. Lovely white head on each pour of the three.

Grainy, metalic type smell, but strangley not offensive.

The taste is all about the alcohol, with a drying bitterness that I didn't really take too. There is a hop mini feel in the flavour, but it just didn't seem to do much taste wise.

I could see two pints of this giving you the mother of all hang-overs. It's the sort of beer drunks drink out of brown paper bags!

As unimpressed as I was with the bottle, but for completely different reasons: have my tastebuds changed, or has the beer?
