Had a big old head when poured. Head didnt last long. Head was white in color. Not much lacing either. Beer was golden yellow in color. Had some big bubbles at first but that didnt hang around very long either. Had a slight skunk smell, not really a heavy skunky smell. Reminded me of Heineken. Had a skunk taste along with citrus and maybe lemon. Had a slight bitter aftertaste. Felt good in the mouth. Felt a little thicker. Not really a beer that I would want to buy again. Their porter is much better.

A - Nice thick pour to a one inch egg shell white head that fades at a moderate rate. The body is a dark yellow with carbonation rising through the middle.

S - Malt aroma with an orange and tangerine accent.

T - Bitter hops flavor with a malty middle.

M - The feel is coarse and awkward and is finishes.

~ This isn't something I'll likely be trying again. Mostly because I don't much care for the flavor. I will suggest it to others though, because it is a unique flavor that may be better appreciated by someone other than myself.

This beer is a fairly pale shade of translucent gold. Head formation (~1 finger) is fairly quick, but it dissipates quickly; lacing is minimal. Rising carbonation is plentiful.

My overall impression is that of several earthy tones - grass, grain, hops, etc. There seems to be a subtle malty sweetness after you wade through the sharp grass/grain aromas. The sweetness is augmented by a very slight hint of spice.

The grass and hop characters hit quickly before leading to a citrus-like malt (more pronounced as the beer warms). Some of the bite remains in the aftertaste, but it seems diluted by the malt. The hop character seems to be more favored - balance seems a bit "off."

This beer is fairly thick for a pilsener. I think that the slight creaminess takes away from the hoppy bite that is usually associated with this style. The finish isn't as "clean" as I would have expected.

Like I said above - it's a bit thick for a pilsener. The lasting "diluted" bitterness kind of makes this category suffer a bit, but it's not that bad of a drink. It's definately a strange variant of the style.

When I think of pilseners, I usually think of very crisp, clean beers with a ton of hop character. This beer seems to bastardize some of those characteristics. These may seem to be harsh words, but it's not THAT bad of a beer; I just think it's an...interesting version of something I've previously had. I bought a 6-pack of this beer because it was on sale - I'd try it again but I don't know if I'd pay the full price for it in the future.

Poured into a 50CL mug from a 50CL bottle.
A - Nice clear medium yellow lager color. White head quickly dissipates. No lacing.
S - Toasted grain a touch of grassy hops.
T - Toasted grain. Sweet up front. Really nice little subtle aftertaste - a little dry a bit of the sweet grain flavor sticking around. Pleasant.
M/F - Light in body. Lightly carbonated yet a nice little prickle on the throat as it flows. Smooth and easy drinking.
D - I like this brew. A good session beer. Not a lot going on but what is there is pleasant and easy going.

I am immensely disappointed in this beer. My first thought upon pouring the beer was that I was totally blown away by the lack of carbonation and though the beer was extremely clear, it was also devoid of any stunning characteristics.
This is the second Polish beer in my collection and it may be the last for a while. In all honesty, I can't say that I'd recommend Okocim to anyone. It is missing all of the things that you look for in a European beer and tastes more like water than pilsener.

From a 500ml. bottle into a pilsner glass, this brew pours clear and light golden in color with a nice bubbly white head. Head reduces to a surface cap and yields good lacing.

Noble hops, grass and some fairly deep malts on the nose, pretty clean overall. More earthy hops through the head initially.

Taste is medium rich in malts with a bit of a creamy orange citrus close which does linger briefly. Finish is a bit coarse and grainy, but pleasant, yet not very complex. Body is moderate for the style and with a pretty strong carbonation, which works well given the maltiness of the finish. Offers average drinkability overall, bit bready.

This pours a bright golden colour with very little head which is not retained at all. Boring looking beer.

Some nice sweet notes on the nose. A hint of lemon.

Palate is dominated by grains. Citrus tang is there as well.

Nice bitterness to it which gives it a bit of length. Very crisp. Quite low carbonation.

Ok but not great

500 mL bottle,

A: Pour a standard yellow lager with an impressive rocky white head, long-lasting, sporadic lace.

S: Very light, but some malt comes through.

T: Typical bready malt character, sourdough bread. Definitely on the sweeter side of this category. Hops have a blunt note of spice, grass and mint, middle of the road bitterness in this style.

M: Real nice, slightly chalky, but I like the light carbonation character, a lager that's not going to bloat you up. Very smooth.

D: A quality inexpensive lager from this Polish brewery. They certainly can make some good lighter lagers. If you haven't had this or the regular O.K. beer, check them out.

Okocim is another beer from the region with a ram / goat creature on its label. What is it with these people and goats? Apparently in the 1800's it's all the Polish marketing could come up with. Anyway, on with the beer, which I got from a Polish friend and he claims it's good.

It looks pretty good from the pour and that's a start. A pleasing clear and deep golden colour with a head that, while diminishing, does provide some amount of lacing. Initially there isn't much smell.. but as you get deeper into the glass there's plenty of sweet malts to be had. Unfortunately it's not really interesting either.. and that sort of sums up the taste as well. Lots of sweet malts, a little bit of fruity yeast and an inadequate amount of hops to finish it off.

This is not a well balanced beer and the longer it stays in your mouth the more you'll come to realize it. The sweetness grows far too quickly (or perhaps the hops dissipate even further if possible). Either way you're going to need some teeth brushing after this one.

Mouthfeel is on the watery side with a little bit too much tasteless carbonation on the tip of your tongue. My recommendation here is to pass. The ram on the label that's fondling the beer has clearly had too much to drink.

I poured this average looking beer into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer was very light colored with a rich thick head that was very bubbly. The beer was kinda strawberry blond looking. It smelled bready and yeasty. The beer was light and crisp with a better smooth finish. I would buy again.

A: Clear, dark yellow. Poured a vigorous white head that fell quickly (almost simultaneously). Continued to decant. Very light and inconsistent lacing.

S: Fruity, slightly green apple smell, some corn. Slight "Euro-funk odor. Not real appealing.

T: Wet grains, a hint of sweetness then slightly bittering. Finished pretty clean.

M: Very thin, too thin. Very carbonated, but felt right. I continued to like the finish, just wanted more up front.

D: Carbonation and finish really helped the drinkability for me even though the taste was fairly bland. Wouldn't go out of my way for this one.

Had this on tap at the Polish Festival in Syracuse.

Was a very light golden yellow with thin white head.

Smell is crisp, a bit of malt.

Taste is balanced, malt is dominant with a bit of bitter hop finish.

Mouthfeel is light and very carbonated, goes ok with the flavor.

Drinkability is average. Nothing special here but its worth a shot.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Crystal clear pale golden in color with a thin white soapy head. No lacing to note.

S: Balanced mix of pale malts and light citrus hops. Fresh. Nice, not great.

T&M: An almost perfect balance between bittering hops and light malts. The weight of this is very light with a nice tingle from the fine active carbonation. All of the flavors stay together for a solid taste all the way through. The finish is mostly clean with a hint of malt but the linger fades out extremely fast.

D: Decent. This reminds me of a more well rounded version of one if the American macros. There is an interesting malt taste (yeast?) that comes across that palate that was interesting to experience. Overall I enjoyed this one and would probably look for it again.

500 ml into Falstaff Goblet.

A: Nice golden color with two finger head on pour that dissipates down to the tiniest residue in the middle and a collar. Some lacing on tilt of goblet.

S: The faintest bit of grass and pepper. And a faint bit of beeswax and honey.

T: A bitter spicy nicety. I get the same bit o honey and pepper and grass. Super dry at the end. So dry it almost puckers your mouth.

M: A bit watery but not bad with big bubbly carbonation.

D: I could guzzle if I was the guzzling type, dudes.

A nice alternative to macro style beers. Decent fizzy light head spins upwards. Grainy smell, clean taste that has some splashes of hops but nothing too big. Smooth body and a refreshing character on a hot day. Overall, not a great beer or even a good one, but a ok international alternative to the American macro beer.

A: One cm head, with a light golden colour. Very carbonated.

S: Very malty smell, but really not much smell to it.

T: This is very malty with a not any hops. Pretty bland flavour, just some malts and carbonation. It has the standard lager taste, but it's not in your face. Pretty okay.

M: Light and almost water like.

D: Not filling and the taste is bland but not bad so one can drink quite a lot.

A: Very pale straw color, very clear with a sudsy thin white Budweiser head.

S: Sweet malt and corn on aroma.

T: Thin body, sweet hop tang that is spicy but not much else for flavor. Has Budweiser corn tang to it when it warms. a washy, weak pilsner that is perhaps over hopped

M: watery and light

D: so easy going down you hardly notice your drinking anything at all.

Pours clear light gold with a medium one inch head that settles quickly. Good carbonation. Good fruity yeast smell. This is a good transition beer if you are trying to convert a bud light drinker. Also a good hot day beer due to the thin body. Very drinkable but not necessarily outstanding.

typical dark yellow and tranlucent lager color. head disappears immediately, leaving some lacing around the sides. ghostlike smell also typical of lagers doesn't give much hint, although perhaps a hint of sweetness breaks through. the malt sweetness comes out in the taste, which i think is a redeeming quality in cheap lagers. there's the normal crisp corniness. Hops help to balance with bitterness but no apparant hop flavor. Not much carbonation and mouthfeel is pretty thin, which in tonights situation (trying to get a buzz on) is a good thing. That being said its a pretty drinkable beer. Definitely preferred to american macro lagers and once of the best value beers here in oxford.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 4th Oct 2008, drank on a wet and cold evening in November 2007.

Poured into one of my Veltins Pilsner glasses, twice.

Normal Pilsner golden colour, clear and crisp looking. A large white head soon fell away to a thin film of covering. If the head had stayed a while the appearance score could have been higher.

The aroma, like almost all pilsners/lagers is very weak and difficult to find. It gets my usual score of 3.

The taste is nothing special either, dry and unappetising.

The mouthfeel is thin and watery, this isn't a beer I could a single thing really going for it. Below average.

a: Haze-free pale golden yellow, with a rocky white head. Scant bubbling, and light lacing.

s: Tobacco tin, spice, metallic herbaceousness

f: A fairly well-balanced blend of hop & malt. Medium bitterness, but with a long aftertaste that becomes slightly astringent.

m: Full mouthfeel, crisp & clean finish.

d: A good quaffer

A- Golden yellow hue w/ thin lacy head

S- Hints of citrus

T- Semi pale earthy hops taste w/ hints of citrus (mainly lemon finish)

M- Smooth and light

D- Decent summer beer feel

Definatly a good example of a pilsner. Though I'm not a huge pilsner drinker it is definatly a great example of what a pilsner should taste like.

I had this on-tap at Tank's Taproom in Tampa, Fl.
Appearance: Gold body with an ok sized head, thin but abundant lacing and the head held ok.
Smell: Strong pale malt aroma and hints of nobel hops.
Taste: Sweet malts, not much depth.
Mouthfeel: Smoothish.
Drinkability: No better than average.
Don't drink and review.

Thanks to chonyr for the brew.

A brilliantly clear, golden straw coloured lager. Mildly carbonated, only managed to produce a thin white head which quickly dissipated. No lacings evident.

Toasted grain, a touch of honey cooked carrots, and some grassy hops with a metallic twang.

Some toasted white bread and grain husk. A hint of corn, sweetness, and the hint of cooked veggies. Slightly metallic with a grassy and almost peppery hop finish.

A light bodied, crisp, and refreshing brew. Malt, adjuncts, and hops decently balanced, although a touch more hops and a touch less sweetness would be truer to style (as well as a bigger head and perhaps more carbonation).

Certainly drinkable and sessionable, and would make a good thirst quencher on a hot summer's day. While nothing particularly inspired, it is something i would drink again.
