Pours dark brown; almost a cola-like color in appearance with a rocky light khaki head. The aroma reminds me of a schwartzbier. Sweet malty nose with caramel and toffee. Dark roasted malts. The mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Rich malty flavor. You can pick up caramel and raisins midway. The beer finishes with a smokey dark roasted malt quality to it.

I liked this quite a bit. I was expecting a fairly average tasting beer and this was rather enjoyable. Something I'd go back again after having a single of and seek out a six pack to purchase the next time I'm in the mood for something like this. Definitely worth a try.

This beer poured out as a nice looking brown color. The head was big and fluffy, the lacing was pretty good down the glass. The smell of the beer was roasts and had a bit of smoke on the nose as well. The taste of the beer was a lot like a porter, it's roasted and has a slight sweetness to it. The mouthfeel was a little lighter than expected but still not bad. Overall the beer was fun to try and I enjoyed it.

I poured this 1 pint .9 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. No freshness date, but A.D. 1845 is printed on the bottom of the label, which I guess is cool. I do like the fiery dragon on the label.

A: clear, dark mahogany color, an aggressive pour produced a massive head, which I had room for thanks to my new 19 oz. Polish pilsner glass from IKEA! The cap is persistent and the lacing is tenacious. From this point on I will be disappointed by this beer...

S: sweet, raisin bread-like malt aroma, molasses, a bit of caramelly/vanillesque aroma is in there as well, and no discernible Euro-funk.

T: the dried-fruit sweetness hits up front, the vanilla is stronger than the caramel in the middle, and the finish has a bit of coffee, just a touch of smokiness, and a rumor of earthy hops. Even for a Euro lager, I find the taste to be a bit one-dimensional and cloyingly sweet.

M: light-bodied, watery to lightly silky texture, moderate carbonation. A bit more carbonation might have improved this beer, or maybe a hop leaf or two.

D: I have had other Polish beers that have impressed me. This beer is a resounding "meh."

Acquired this from tigg924 so a big THANK YOU goes out to him!
Consumed 5/4

A: This beer pours a deep dark brown, some lighter brown, coppery hues when held to the light. One finger of rocky, light brown head that holds nicely and leaves spotty lacing on the glass.

S: Nose is of caramel malts, bread/yeasty notes, and a hint of coffee.

T: Taste starts with some caramel malt sweetness, that dips in to a bit of breadiness. Charred malts and bitter chocolate then come through. Finish is coffee, hint of smoke, and a hint of grassy notes.

M: Light body, high carbonation, somewhat watery and a touch too carbonated.

D: Goes down relatively easy, decent representation of style. based off the nose, and tastes, I would have preferred a touch heavier body, but a decent beer non-the-less.

appearance: deep dark brown with copper highlights and low rising bubbles for a lager. dark ale looking.

smell: caramel and low hop aroma

taste: nice caramel taste from the malt and a little bitterness. more flavorable than a typical dark euro lager, very pleasant but slightly on the sweet side.

mouthfeel: medium bodied, but does have the cridp lager feeling

drinkability: again this is much dark than I expected and I really liked it.

Smell: smoke, caramel, coca cola, and toasted malt

Taste: caramel, touch of coffee, and small smoked malt

Mouthfeel: minimal carbonation, light bodied, smoky sweet, smooth

Drinkability: I really like this beer. There is a nice smokiness to this that is not overpowering. With the low abv, I could sip the four pack in a sitting.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a beer mug, a deep reddish brown clour with a quickly dissipating head. Tastes of caramel and toffee all the way. A strong malt presence can be felt in the first sip - sweet with burnt sugar, almost too much for a Euro Dark Lager. Mouthfeel is thin and pretty above average on the sting. I would pass this as average on drinkability because of its sweetness.

Pours out a dark brown clear liquid with a tint or reddish amber and one finger of white suds.Good lacing.
Smell is caramel malt with a dry straw haystack aroma. Some alcohol and some burning yeast.
Taste is sweet and mellow malts with just a hint of fruit like fig or raisin. Not much alcohol here in the taste.
Mouthfeel is warm like this has lots of alcohol but it must be the sugar and mellow malt.
Drinkability is very good with this four pack of 500 ml costing me just $4.99.
Not a match for the porter but few brews are. Shoot, for the price this is a great beer.

(Served in a Pilsner glass)

A- This beer pours a dark brown crystal clear body that is a bit dense with a creamy tan head supported by a good carbonation of big bubbles

S- The aroma is pretty clean with notes of brown malt and bread crust coming though as the beer warms.

T- The light flavor of dry slightly sulfury raw grains are mixed with a soft toasted brown malt note. There is a soft brown nougat flavor that finishes with a dry crisp green note at the finish.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a crisp fizz in the finish.

D- The clean and toasted flavors are nice but they are hidden in the background. This makes me drink even faster to try and get more of that taste that is eluding my tongue.

Pours dark like a stout or a porter with a good 3/4 of white, creamy, fluffy big bubbly head.

Smell is licorice, black pepper, caramel, anise and sweet dark malt extract.

Tastes a lot like the regional Baltic porters I've had to be honest, I am not sure what makes this a Euro Dark Lager and not a Baltic Pilsener, I can't really distinguish. The molassey, licorice flavors that adorn the Baltic porters from the Baltic countries are very similar to this. Very malty with a pretty moderate amount of carbonation. Slightly metallic aftertaste.

Fizzy mouthfeel that also come across a bit watery at times.

Drinkability is good enough to finish the bottle but not good enough to wish I had another one...

Really enjoyed this one. It poured a VERY dark brown, almost black, with a slightly off white head, about a finger and a half. A really nice looking beer, (and a neat looking bottle by the way). Smelled nice, sort of a burnt chocolate smell. The taste was what you would expect from the smell. Sort of a burnt chocolate with just a hint of bitterness behind it. Maybe a burnt bitter chocolate? Really, I expect it really is derived from their porter To me, it tastes like a porter. It reminded me a LOT of Sierra Nevada's porter. If the bottle has said porter, it would have been an excellent representation of the style. Medium carbonation felt just about right. A couple would be enough, due to the style. I really enjoyed it though. Would hightly recommend it, and I'm hoping they still have some in stock when I get back to the store...

On my Polish beer kick as of lately, I picked up a bottle of this. It looked intriguing and I hadn't had it yet.

Appearance is a dark black/brown with not much head, but its a full bodied beer with good lacing. While it lacks in head retention, it does make up for its volume. Excellent looking beer.

Smell is fairly high in roasted malts. It says on the bottle that its "fire brewed." I can definitely smell the burned sediments within the glass as this does have a pleasing aroma. It could be a bit stronger however.

Taste is pretty top notch. This was a cheap beer too @ $1.49 a piece. For how cheap it is, it packs a punch, complete with a nice balance of hops and grains. No bad elements whatsoever. This is a good beer.

Mouthfeel is pretty strong. While it is frothy after the first sip, the flavor stays intact and continues to after the final swallow. This is a solid beer and the roasted flavors come to the forefront with each sip.

Drinkability is pretty solid. For what it is as a Euro Dark Lager, this is one of the better beers I've had in quite some time and by far the best out of my Polish beer kick. Definitely worth picking up more in the future.

I wonder if this is something fairly new as I don't remember drinking it in Poland when I was there and I consumed a lot of Okocim while in country. I like the firebird on the label but I don't have a real good feeling for this one.

The color is a tawny medium brown and the head and lace put on a nice show and have some staying power. The nose is a bit problematic, with herbal and sweet notes infiltrated with a definite soapy tone. Not so good.

The taste grows on me as I drink it although there still is that soap tint to everything. Muted dark malt touched with bitter chocolate and coffee form the base but everything is fairly mellow. The savior is the mouthfeel which is low on carbonation and silky smooth. Despite the soap issues, this is easy and pleasurable to drink and somewhat unique.

To me this is more of a schwarzbier than a BP due to abv, thickness, and strength of flavor. As the latter, this would be among my favorites, but as a Baltic Porter, it lacks both punch and character.

Dark tawny amber with a nice whipped mocha head that leaves sliding globs of lace down the glass. Smell is pretty mild, faint toasted cereal grain and dark malts. Tastes of semisweet chocolate and dark fruit that is perfectly balanced with bittering hops. Light bodied and well carbonated, a nice session beer.

Poured out of a 0.5 l bottle into a 0.5 l mass. Was a dark brown and had a high light colored toffee head, which faded within a minute leaving moderate lacing.
Smelled of sweet chocolate, caramel and an overall very malty aroma.
The taste is of soft and smooth malt. The roasty flavor was more evident as the beer warmed. I still would expect more roasted barley from a "fire brewed" beer.
It reminded me of a schwarze bier in its soft malty character, which made it very easy drinking. Overall, I was expecting more of a roasted flavor, which was rather subdued.

Let's get this out of the way right now: this is not Okocim Porter. Duh. I knew that it wasn't going to live up to one of the best porters on the planet. I was, however, hoping for something better. Something much better. Alas, this is not a particularly good beer.

It looks nice. Pours what appears to be black until you hold it up the light, and then it's a ruby-brown of sorts. The off-white head produces plenty of lacing. The appearance is the strong suit of the beer.

The aroma is really what turns me off to the beer. This shit smells soapy. Soapy as hell. I smell nothing else but detergent. Very uncool.

The flavor is a definite step up from the smell, but it's nothing special. Mildly malty with a metallic bite on the finish.

Mouthfeel is far too thin for the style. Carbonation is where it should be, but the body is far too Paris Hilton when it should be -- at the very least -- Beyonce.

Overall, this is not something I plan on drinking again. Granted, it was a free bottle that I received due to an error, but that still doesn't make it a good beer. I'll stick with Okocim's exceptional porter, thank you very much.

S = This smelled exactly like a "doppelbock" with sweet malts dominating.

T = Malty sweetness was the dominate flavor. I couldn't detect much of anything else.

MF = Body was light and thin. Carbonation was low.

Overall, this was a decent Baltic Porter, but much to light for my liking.
